this is his first  'accident'  since starting driving the first of the month

thank goodness he held his cool and kept his car on a narrow road  with 'drop off edges' on the side
something i've cautioned him about all year while riding-along     this could have been so much worse than a new windshield in his daddy's jeep

One has to be careful of rock trucks.  They will throw rocks at you and not even know they are doing it.

Lots of times if you can get the license plate the company will cover the cost of the replacement windshield.  I know it is covered by insurance but these companies have to know that they need to cover their loads and what better way than to make them pay for replacing what they broke.

the truck was going in the other direction  and he saw the rocks coming at him and ducked  he's  sixteen
he did good to get himself home safely after that

 Yes, he was lucky to get home after that! When something like that happens it can kind of scare you for a bit.

Thank goodness he wasn't hurt.  Those trucks are dangerous no matter what direction they're going.
