Since most of our family members are either 'passed' away or moved too far awa, forusto get togethery; hubby decided there is no point in my again  working so hard to prepare the traditional feast for just the two of us.We're going out to eat.The local luxury hotel has a yearly Thanksgiving day banquet that I've only dreamed about attending. Hubby got a bonus gift from his volunteer job that makes it possible to  have this special treat. This year I'm very thankful my dream ( dinnerattheCrowne;  is coming true. We  won'tmisstheleftovers;  hubby has that covered too.Half a turkey ; dressing( stuffing cooked outside the bird; asst veggies & sides and apumpkinpie   will be prepared a few days  later  ( propably over the weekend, w/ no time frame to make me feel rushed.Tongue out

Sounds great ladies, enjoy yourselves.  On Thanksgiving Day it will be just hubby and me,  since the rest of our family all have plans elsewhere.  But we will all be getting together on the Saturday after when I will cook the traditional turkey and fixings.  Going to be a longggggg day lol.  I try to make the dinner early enough so Mom doesn't have to drive home in the dark.

I'm going as far as my own kitchen, to create dinner for my husband, 2 grown children, and a couple of assorted family friends.  I am very thankful that my daughter, and this year my son as well, will be able to help their poor, crippled old mom in the kitchen.  I love you, Dave and Lisa!

Well the kids are too far away and my wife passed in 2000 so I will be here alone again watching tv and taking my mind off it.

I haven't been able to find an org. serving Thanksgiving dinner to the needy ( just Christmas) where I could help, so I'll have breakfast with a good group of people at a local restaurant* then back home to cook a great dinner with my cats.

*What a restaurant ... on holidays it is open from just 7 AM to 10AM ...to servea great  breakfast to people who will probably be alone the rest of the day.

For me Thanksgiving celebration/dinner  will be at my church Sunday after services.

We're going to our daughter's home.  We live in a condo, and it has a one-butt kitchen.  Not too handy for a large celebration.  My son and his family will be coming up from Cincinatti, so our daughter always does the honors.  Bless her heart!  I guess it's only fair.  I did the cooking 47 years before moving to the condo.  Life is sweet!
