I don't use chemicals on my garden either.   I mulch with grass clippings when I set out the plants so I really don't have to water.  The area where my garden is has been amended over the years with lots of organic material, so it holds the water pretty well.

Yes.  My flowerbed has turned into a garden the past few years.  I've already got red and yellow pepper plants that I started from seeds and I want to get some tomato plants too.

We will do container gardening and plant herbs, tomatoes, lettuce, radishes and squash.

Hubby decide to try growing iceberg lettuce (guess he heard me talking about how I wish it was easy to grow). He planted seeds & so far has separated the plants & put "1" in each of the pack cells I have saved from buying plants in the past.  Last night he said he transplanted each of them into the small pots that I had stored (from the 3" geraniums I bought over the years). He said he found some old seeds I had stored in the garage & planted them & a lot of them are growing(I am not to look at the plants till Mother's Day). I had baby food jars stored that had seeds from plants in the garden over the years, & he has no idea what he planted because they were not labeled ( I know what most of the seeds are by looking at them).  He dug up most of the lily of the valley ( for the second time )that took over one area to make room for more pepper plants. Last yr. is the first time he helped in the garden & I am glad he is doing it this year, it gets him out of the house & off the PC & after 39 yr. of doing it all alone I am glad of the help. Too bad the garden now is only 1/4th of what it was.  Three weeks to go before putting the plants in the ground, but we decided to try the iceberg in hanging baskets so the slugs & bunny do not eat them, I hope I have enough baskets, I told him I have to get to the one area of the garage to see if more are stored there.
I try to reuse items & I wash & store the pots to reuse till they fall apart.

In containers we have herbs, squash, eggplant, cucumbers, and several kinds of tomatoes.

all ready started put toms, cuks, 3 different kinds of peppers water melon canolope  squash and getting green beans and  corn hope it does well

I am using the raised bed system with home made compose. My plants are also happy because it is again raining.

By using raised beds, homemade compose and deep planting the heavy rain hopefully will not wash my plants away

Tomatoes went in last week, along with celery.  Also have spinach, garlic, a couple of hot pepper plants, and cucumbers.  Mmmmm - I love home grown veggies...:)
