We usually plant about 6-8 tomato plants, various kinds ( beefsteak, sweet 100s etc).  We also have an herb box.  I have parsley, sage, rosemary , thyme and chives .  ( I sound like the lyrics of a song)  I also plant basil in the summer, and I have mint in a separate pot.(( If you don't keep the mint separate it spreads all over the place.  I really enjoy cooking with the fresh herbs.

My tomatoes are blooming already, 1 beefsteak and several heirlooms. I also have bell peppers, chives, rosemary, parsley, cilantro, dill, and basil. I'm planting a few potatoes this year to see how well they do in this southern California weather!

Last year all my tomatoes were stolen off the vine in the the early AM. I will plant some tomatoes this year and maybe I can enjoy a home grown tomato.
My herbs rosemary, lemon verbena, pineapple sage, fresh bay, lemon balm, lemon grass and various mints are doing nicely.
The onions and garlic are growing.

Have 2 months to go before planting, but about 20 onions have popped up(from last year), I have a very large pot for the parsley & it is growing. The peppermint, spearmint, chives & garlic come up every year & we will plant tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, & 2 acorn squash or zucchini. I will also put 1 bell pepper, 1 cherry  & 1 reg. tomato plant in the other 3 large pots so I can have some for Thanksgiving (too bad they do not make it for Christmas)  We do a lot of bell peppers & I still have some in the freezer (not sure if they will last till Aug. but it will be close) I made a batch of cabbage soup & used a lot of the peppers.

GRANA  here;
 We live in a condo & rules do not allow growing fruits or veggies on our patios; So NO I'm not planting a garden this year or any year since movingheein 1987
 Cry
It's been a long timew/o one&I miss the fresh tomatoes, etc.
If I could have veggie garden I'd plant heirloom tomatoes, chives. hot peppers & several herbs( basil, cilantro, oregano) to make my fresh veggies even tastier.

I usually have a few tomatoes due to a small area. My daughter that has a big
garden gives me a lot of things from her garden. I can and make pickles for her.
She works and runs a Bar and Grill in a small town where that is the only  thing
except a post office. My granddaughter likes to help me can and make pickles.
My daugter  lives in a farming community so she fixes meals for them when they
are in the field and sometimes takes the meals to them when it is harvest time.

I always plant a garden.  I have tomato and pepper plants under lights in my basement right now.  Later I'll start cukes, zuccnini and winter squash.  I just like to have them come up inside and then set them out.  That way I know how many I have.  I have chives and garlic that comes up every year; also oregano and sage.  I have an end I cut off a sweet potato that is growing in a container.  When it gets warm enough I'll plant it outside.  One year I did that and got 20 pounds of sweet potatoes from one little end.  Directly into the ground will be beans when I'm sure it will stay warm.  I have lettuce and radishes growing in containers that I started early.  I would not want to live in a condo that wouldn't let me plant anything in a container on my patio.

Sorry to say, no garden for us.  We haven't had one for the last 8 years....because we live in a condo now, and there is no room (unless we do a container).  Thankfully, we have a great Farmer's Market just about 5 miles from our home, and we are there bright and early every Saturday morning.  They will be opening the end of next month.....can't wait!!

Depending on money & time, we'll plant this year.  My husband would like to expand his area.  Last year he didn't grow because the area for the vegetable garden is hilly & is collapsing.  We're figuring not too expensive ways to fix/expand so he can plant more.  In the past, he's grown cucumber, green pepper, italian pepper, radish, pumpkin, lettuce, strawberry, blueberry, scallion, mint, 3 kinds of tomatoes.  Fruti is hard but once they take, there forever just keep pruning.  Pumpkin is the easiest/fastest I've seen grow but don't start too early or you'll have pumpkins in August.  The women neighbors scream because they hardly get a crop while his flourishes.  2 years ago, the woman next door sent her daughter over every time my husband was outside so she could report back what he does differently.  He said no chemicals & make sure to shore up the vines as the tomatoes grow otherwise they're drooping with tomato weight & if on the ground, bugs or rotting will happen
