My PCP(Ppimary Care Physician wants me to  aim for 8 glasses.todayI will have consumed 9 glasses: />)
Our city tap  water is pretty good &  I enjoy drinking it.
I  find it easier to consume  my quota by drinking flavored water(  sugar free drink mixes;iced decaf tea.
What do you drink to  replace the  body fluids lost ftoperspiration?
BTW: alcoholic beverages (beer & wine) taste nice but only make you less hydrated; caffiene drinks( coffee& tea also dehydrate you.
One ripe juicy peachis 80% water, a perfect source of hydrating fluids, along w/some vitamins & minerals

I drink all day long,spring water about a half gallon daily-64oz.I always keep Koolaid sweetened with sweet-n- low and either Crystal lite ice tea or lemonaid in the fridge.I don't drink very much coffee in the summer but will start drinking that and hot cocoa again once it starts getting cool.

I drink water all day long every day, usually 8+ glasses a day.  It's very rare to  leave the house without taking my water bottle along in the car.  With all the hot weather we've had I do more sweating than running to the bathroom lol.  Never been much of a drinker but a cold beer now and then in the summer tastes pretty good.  Everything in moderation.

Besides water, what else can I consume to stay well hydrated?

Water is the best option for staying hydrated. There are other drinks and foods that can help provide the water you need, but some may add extra calories from sugar to your diet.

Drinks like fruit and vegetable juices, milk and herbal teas can contribute to the amount of water you should get each day. Even caffeinated drinks, such as coffee, tea and soda, count toward your daily water intake – up to a point. But it’s best to limit these since caffeine may cause some people to urinate more frequently, or feel anxious or jittery. A moderate amount of caffeine, 200 to 300 milligrams (about the amount in 2 to 4 8-ounce cups of coffee), is not harmful for most people.

Water can also be found in fruits and vegetables, such as watermelon, tomatoes and lettuce, and in soup broths.

I had heard that the best way to determine how much water or fluids you need is to take your body weight and divide that in half then drink that much in ounces.  So a 150 pound person would need 75 ounces of fluids.
I take into consideration all fluids.  But I will count a coffee, tea, soda at half the number of ounces.  I also count a salad, soup or fruit in some of that liquid.

But I recently read the best way is look at your urine.  If it is clear or very pale you are getting enough fluids.  Not sure how this works if you are taking a medication that changes the color of the urine.

I am having problems getting my husband to drink enough.  Difficult enough but with the Alzheimer's he does not understand why he has to drink.  He will drink soda but refuses water, crystal light, juice or any other fluid.

My older (and wiser) Brother said he has lost some of his extra weight by drinking a glass of ICE WATER before every meal.  I thought, "What can I lose" (besides weight).  I drink a full glass of ice water before every meal, and I have lost 5 pounds in the past 3 weeks!!  Bring that water on!!!

GRANA here;
HI  DARLA M;

 I have read that many of us mis-interpret  the signs of thirst, for hunger & eat/snack when what our body really needs & wants is water( no fat; cholesterol or calories)..... so drinking a glass of water  certainly makes sense before  eating in an attempt to lose weight.;

Good hydration is very  important in this kind of weather.  Nothing hydrates better than good old water.
