While gardening this afternoon, I found a tomato growing on one of my plants, and the potatoes are pushing through the surface!

curcurbits are things like cucumbers.  Mine aren't doing well, but I have some buds on my peppers and blooms on some tomatoes.
Must go out to harvest broccoli and check the strawberries

Yesterday I bought some more strawberry plants since it appears some of mine didn't make it over the winter.  Had to weed before I could plant them though since the weeds are doing better than anything else with all the rain we've had lately.

Looks like more rain coming with the clouds moving in quickly.

Just picked 3 zucchini and I have been picking husky cherry tomatoes since
last week. Garden looks awesome. Will start picking normal size tomatoes
this week. The jalapenos will be ready in about a week.

Curcurbits Any of various mostly climbing or trailing plants of the family Cucurbitaceae, which includes the squash, pumpkin, cucumber, gourd, watermelon, and cantaloupe.

Thank you all for the definition of curcurbits.  I sort of thought that they were cucumber in family but did not know that that included pumpkin, watermelon. 

Judy, do you happen to have walnut trees near your garden? There is an acid in th e walnut that kills curcurbits. As well as other items.  We had several black walnut near our garden at the old house and nothing grew well, and to make matters worse I would find the squirrels would "hide" the nuts within the plants so the ones that did well enough to survive and produce most of the summer would have the plant or produce killed off when the pesky critters started hiding food for the fall and winter.

What is black walnut toxicity? Black walnut trees (Juglans nigra) produce a toxic substance (called juglone) that prevents many plants from growing under or near them. Related trees like butternut (J. cinerea) and shagbark hickory (Carya ovata) also produce juglone, but in lower concentrations than black walnut. Juglone occurs in all parts of black walnut trees, but especially in buds, nut hulls and roots. The toxic effects of a mature black walnut tree can extend 50 to 80 feet from the
trunk of the tree, with the greatest toxicity occurring within the tree’s dripline. In this area, plants susceptible to juglone may wilt or die; plants tolerant to juglone will grow normally. Vegetables such as tomato, potato, eggplant and pepper, and ornamentals such as lilac, peony, rhododendron and azalea are particularly sensitive to juglone. What do the effects of black walnut toxicity look like? Plants sensitive to juglone may be stunted, have yellow or brown, twisted leaves, exhibit wilting of some or all plant parts, and die over time

Maxine..a wealth of information on this. 
I learned the hard way when my husband could not figure out why stuff in the garden was dying mid season.  I did a bit of research and found out about this.  Got worse every year because the trees got larger every year.  Not to mention the darned critters carrying the nuts around leaving them everywhere.
Did not know why we never moved the garden, I guess it was just easier to put in more plants and we would get enough to use. 
I did not know about the lilac, peony, rhododendron and azalea plants but that explains why the rhododendrons I tried to grow died.

It did not rain Tuesday. The plants have not been washed away. They are attempting to grow. I pulled two Husky tomatoes and cut some lettuce

With the heavy rain and 90 degree temperatures the plants are growing.

Nikki, this is Missouri. Of course I have walnut trees.  I'm always pulling out little trees, or if i'm too late, pruning them off at the base. I must have absent minded squirrels who forget where they buried them.  I don't think it is the walnut trees, because I've had good luck growing stuff most years.  I'm thinking more weather related (and critter related) problems.

Evidently black walnut and poison ivy are great friends.   The poison ivy is quite robust this year and some of it is climbing up into the trees, making it 10 feet tall.  Yikes

My plants were not destroyed by the rain, wind or storm. Trees, branches, limbs and twigs fell during the storm

Do not forget to wear long sleeves, long pants and gloves when you handle poison ivy. Also wash those clothes in a separate load.

It rained again Monday morning and afternoon. The plants are growing and producing much better with Natural water.
