Our garden in the Catskills is very small. We have two tomato plants and a 2 diffent varieties of basil. We owe the planting to my sis-in-law who planted them before we arrive from the south. We have enjoyed two delicious homegrown tomatoes and the basil is used in a lot of my cooking. My sis-in-law brings veggies from her garden which she and her husband supply the family. We have enjoyed two varieties of string beans, tomatoes, squash (zucchini, spagetti, crookneck). Love the fresh vegetables from the garden!!!

The potato plants and my onions are all drying up even though they get water. It's much too early to be digging those out or there won't be any by October. After being away for a few days. I'm surprised that more isn't dried out. Tonight I brought in six more tomatoes and seven peppers.

The radishes went into seed and the peas just dried up. Oh well, maybe if it gets cooler again I can replant those. Brussel sprouts and broccoli all dried up as soon as I planted them. Wacky weather for growing things this year.

Sat. hubby picked 18 bell peppers, a few were just a little larger than a tangerine, but all had the blush so he picked them. I cut up the 4 small ones & used some in potato salad & will use the rest in Sun. dinner ( I taste a piece of every pepper before I use them to make sure they are good). I thought I might have to toss the small ones, but they were good.
We got some rain today & it got rid of the 90's for a few days, I hope the cooler weather will help the peppers grow bigger.
Hubby also picked 4 large tomatoes (1 slice will cover a slice of bread) & a few med. size.

I will take my Mother some more tomatoes and peppers. Cherokee Purple, German Queen, Lemon Boy Tomatoes.

I cut tomatoes and eggplants Saturday before the downpours that could of destroyed my plants. Sunday I had to re-enforce my tomato cages and do major thrash, gravel and dirt work after the storms that came Saturday. We need a slow soaking rain not rain that washes away top soil and destroys plants.

its august and my garden is a mell stink bugs are eating everythingi bought a stink bug trap but it didnt work they are all over everything and it makes me sad as i can't get rid of them

Two days of rain got rid of the 90's, the past 2 days have been upper 70's & hubby picked about 15 tomatoes & 6 red bell peppers. The parsley revived & I cut some of it along with some dill that sprung up & dried both.

My tomato plants are growing like crazy with still a lot of green ones on them. But I have a big bowl full of ripe ones, red and yellow, in the kitchen already.

Pepper plants that I started didn't do too well, got one small green pepper from about 12 plants. Think I'll skip that next year. The banana pepper plants that my husband bought however are so full I can't believe it. I had to put tomato cages around them to keep them off the ground. Now, if he would just eat all those peppers lol.

Almost time to dig out all the potatoes and onions. Hopefully there will be enough to last at least until Christmas.
