While gardening this afternoon, I found a tomato growing on one of my plants, and the potatoes are pushing through the surface!

Ann, maybe you can try growing vegies indoors in a hydroponics container. http://www.hydroponics.com/gardens/tomatoes.html

We plant the end of May, but the parsley & the onions that I have in pots are doing good & some onions that were lost in the garden last year arrived in time for Easter potato salad. The garlic leaves are about 8 in high. I can hardly wait to get the tomatoes & bell peppers in the ground (hubby just started the seeds Monday)

I really miss the homegrown tomatoes the most. My grandparents, and my dad really knew how to do it! Sure miss that.

Is is possible to plant some of the little tomatoes in a hanging basket.  Some do quite well hanging upside down.  You can do the same thing by planting them on the bottom side of the hanging basket and plant begonias or petunias on the top.

I have been busy planting my hostas, ferns and some peony plants.  I put in 2 trees, a Dogwood and an Eastern Redbud.  I am looking for one more tree and that will be the extent of the landscape planting for this year.  I will then try to put together a planting box for one or two tomatoes and a pepper or two. I do want to get a Rosemary plant but it will have to be in a pot that can be taken indoors.  I do not do well with living plants inside.  My "green thumb" is not quite so green indoors.

My thumb is green - with envy.
I gardened for years but when we moved - only four miles - the soil here is heavy clay and I haven't learned how to deal with it very well.
Maybe this year we'll get it right.
Our roses are blooming. In April!!!. Usually at least late May or even June.

My tomatoes and peppers I started are about 4 inches tall in their little pots.  I won't put them out until at least May first.
I found a part package of snow pea seeds I had used a couple years ago.  I though they might be too old to do anything, but I figured they certainly wouldn't grow in the package, so planted them.  I checked yesterday and about 3/4 of them are up.

Sping is upon us, and the garden is coming along.  My husband added the wire baskets to the tomato plants last weekend.  The azalea is in bloom, the pansy plants are blooming, as is the lavender, and the roses are ready to burst into color.  As far as the herbs go, the rosemary is in the yard and is hearty as ever, the mint has come up in a pot again after it went dormant over the winter, and in the herb box, the sage is doing well, the flatleaf parsley is growing by leaps and bound, and the thyme is coming along.  Even last year's chives are coming up.  I must buy a new basil plant, now that the weather is warmer.

Sad to say, since we moved into our condo eight years ago, we haven't had a garden.  No room for one.  We do have a great Farmer's Market though, and I can't wait until it opens!!  We go every Saturday morning and gather up as many fresh vegetables and fruit that we can find!

I haven't planted my garden yet, but I do have pepper plants that I raised from seeds on my window sill and I bought a few tomato plants yesterday and they are still on the counter because I'm not sure where to put them yet.
