We have some "volunteer" onions and garlic coming up in the garden. Guess I planted those suckers just a little too deep last year lol. Hubby dug some out when he tilled the garden, so we've already had green onions and garlic to eat. My tomato, pepper, broccoli, brussel sprouts and such are still in little pots sitting in front of the patio door to get bigger before being transplanted. The weather has been nice but I wonder if we might not have a late frost so I'm waiting. Don't want to waste all my work only to have to go buy more plants.

The fruit trees have all blossomed and have gone on, even the broken apple tree. Still have to get that out of there since I doubt we'll have any fruit on it. Now that man wants to get a cherry tree. I asked him how many birds he wants in the yard lol.

H.M. My daughter had a cherry tree and you're right the birds love the fruit. Apparently you are supposed to put a net over the tree, but I think the birds still get the fruit. We have a Golden Delicious apple tree, and my husband really cut it back this year, and did manage to spray it between storms. So far we are looking at a lot of blooms, I'm hoping for a good year this fall when the apples ripen. I love to make applesauce and freeze it. It is so great to have it for a nice pork roast during the year..

I've got potatoes and snow peas growing very well right now. Soon it will be time for the rest of the veggies and herbs to be planted!

Maxine, I think the cherokee purple are fabulous. I've got some in containers I haven't set out yet. I also grow Sweet Tangerine which is a "Burpee exclusive and one of my favorites. It is tangerine colored but tastes "red".

I got some plants (flowers) on Saturday that I had ordered from Vermont Wildflowers. They arrived in great condition and look really healthy. I was busy all Saturday afternoon getting them into the ground. I didn't get into the house until nearly 7 pm.

If I can get it built I would love a little raised bed along the side of the house. It gets a lot of sun and there is an area that is just pebbles between the house and a sidewalk that leads to the back yard. I think a few tomatoes, peppers and an eggplant would do well.
The other plant I would like to get, and I will wait for one of the "garden club" sales is a Rosemary. I know I have to bring it indoors for the winter and it will truly test my indoor green thumb but I have been using Rosemary so much lately and it tastes so much better fresh.

I am also planning on going to a plant sale and have looked at the list of plants and they have a few that I want for the yard. Bottle Brush Buckeye, Filbert, Spice Bush possibly a Pagoda Dogwood and they have several ferns that I would like to add. I may have to scale back my wish list. I forget that each plant I buy I have to dig a hole. The soil at this house is terrible all clay and each hole has to be amended so it is quite a bit of work. It seems like each plant takes twice as long as it should to plant.
