my garden is growing but slow some plants are taking forever to get fruit my toms are alright but other s dont likethe heat i froze some squash as was getting to many

We've gotten lots of various eggplants, peppers, tomatoes, and herbs from our continaer plants.

Sun. hubby picked 5 more orange tomatoes. The 2 he picked Fri. turned red & I sliced one up & he ate the whole thing so I ate the other one in my salad

. The tomatoes are small, about the size of tennis balls, but good.
I snuck a green pepper off a plant (I do not want him to pick them this early, I want them big), it is a nice size & I wanted one because I did not buy one at the store.

I had to cut some dill so I dug out the dehydrator & it is drying along with some parsley, celery leaves & peppermint. The dill was starting to seed, but with the heat, some was starting to yellow, I did see some new dill about 2 to 4 inches high so (I just cut the 3 foot tall ones) I hope to get more than what is drying right now.
Hubby brought in 2 more orange tomatoes, but they were about the size of limes. There are some big green ones out there, but not too many blossoms on any of the plants. the grape tomato plants should be loaded with blossoms

My tomatoes are just doing OK but not great.My neighbor gave me 4 big English cucumbers from their garden.I made Microwave bread and butter pickles.I put onions,a green pepper and a few small red peppers in with the cukes.They turned out real well,my guys really are enjoying this.

The herbs are lovely. The vegetables are wonderful. I am lucky Deer attacked a friends tomatoes.

Basil, Chives, Lavender, Parsley and Rosemary are a few herbs that repel deer from your garden.

Sat. hubby picked 4 more tomatoes, the red ripe one was the size of a very large cherry tomato (no, it is not a cherry tomato), there were two light red the size of a tennis ball & 1 orange large one the size of a small grapefruit. It will be a few days before it will be ready to eat, but he was just happy to get a large one.

The news said that scientists found that the heat makes the melons (watermelon, honeydew etc.) sweeter & the hot peppers hotter.

I hope everyone's garden is growing well! I got my first red tomato the other day. It was really good. My dad has a garden this year and it is doing so well. They gave me 3 zucchini, tomatoes and green beans already. My dad is so excited.

Now, if I could only keep the squirrel away from my peppers.....

My potato plants are all turning brown and wilting already even though they get water almost every day. The rain we got recently helped a little but I think the water from the hose is too cold for the plants. Oh well, we'll have to wait and see how many we get this year.

Tomatoes are doing well, have already picked about 8 ripe ones. The cherry tomatoes are way behind, full of green ones but no red ones yet. Seems to be a bad year for green peppers here with the plants not getting very big. They have blooms but only one pepper so far. The pepper plants my husband bought at the store are doing better, but they're also next to the house so they get more shade.

I really feel bad for the farmers, so much work and then they might not have enough crops making it through the heat.

It rained Tuesday and early Wednesday causing me to pull a tomato. The taste is outstandingly great.

We have a shag bark hickory tree in the yard (was there before the house was built) & squirrels have lived in it long before we moved in. I had 2 gardens, the large one was around that tree & the first 2 yrs. many of my plants hat teeth marks or bites out of them. I put a bowl of water out & then started to dry out the bread heels & old rolls etc. (they gnaw so it is not good to put out fresh bread) & I put some out. We have lived in the house since 1976 & no longer have to worry about the garden, even the bunnies (they live under the neighbor's deck) have come through the fence, but they nibble on the treats I put out (old cookies, raw carrot pieces, now & then almonds in the shells & popcorn). The bunnies did not even bother the lettuce.
Put out a bowl of water (& maybe a few pieces of dried bread or cookies) where the squirrel can get to it & maybe your plants will be left alone. Hope this works for you,
