While gardening this afternoon, I found a tomato growing on one of my plants, and the potatoes are pushing through the surface!

Mary L, I wish I could share some of my tomato crop with you. We've been enjoying fresh tomatoes since the middle of June. I trimmed them back yesterday, and have more blossoms setting for a second crop. My peppers, on the otherhand, are not blooming yet; growing nicely, but no blossoms...hmmm. All my herbs are doing well, fortunately.

Right now I am being inundated with tomatoes, brought in two dozen more today.  My son better hurry up and get himself over here and take some of them.

Potato plants are all still green and some are still blooming so I think I can wait to take those out.  Pepper plants are really pathetic this year.  They're not much bigger than when I planted them and only one plant has blooms on it.   Good thing I wasn't planning on freezing any this year lol.  Still have plenty from last year in the freezer.

By the way I have done a bit of "research" and found that purslane is edible and very high in omega 3 oils.

Don't know if I mentioned before but one of my hydrangea is a type that normally does not bloom in my area.  I got it about 20 years ago and have had 1 flower on it in all that time.  It blooms on old wood and the winters here kill off the old branches.  Since I moved I have it in a bit of a sheltered spot and I surround it in the winter and cover it with leaves.  Well..I have lots and lots of flowers this year. They are pink they should be blue but I have never amended the soul since I never got flowers so I will be amending the soil for next year and with luck a profusion of blue flowers.

My hydrangea is also blooming pink this year instead of blue.  Been so busy lately that I haven't done a thing to it except water it.    Pink is ok for now.
