Hi Vicki those are beautiful.Very deco looking, maybe that's because that's when they were made.lol Why aren't you buying them? Just be careful when buying depression glass. If there are any chips or cracks it significantly lowers the value of the piece..As soon as I can I'll try to post a set of pink sugar and creamers that I have.I've never seen this pattern before, maybe you have seen these and can tell me something about them. You should get those deco sugar and creamers if you like them You only live once.

Hi Vicki I forgot to tell you before when you buy things like sugar and creamers do a little research on them to make sure they didn't have lids, that will also lower the value. I hate to spend money on something that you think is all that and it's not.I have seen that pink set without the stand so that's another thing to watch for.Make a wise investment and if you should ever want to sell them you should be able to sell these at what you paid plus a profit.

Vicki, those are so pretty.
I will also ask..how come you are not buying them?

After moving I gave my husbands mothers dishes to my sister in law.  I never used the dishes as I was always afraid they would break and they did not seem to mean much to my husband so I figured his sister would like them.  I have nothing from my Mom or Grandma as the items were either lost or "stolen' when I was much younger so I do not have much in the way of glass ware that is meaningful to me.
Not sure if having "stuff" is a blessing or a curse...I have no one that will want anything when I am gone.  Although I do hope my Grandson wants my cookbooks.

I had a small collection of Ruby Glass, and my husband's grandmother gave me her crystal serving dishes. Sadly these were all lost in the 1994 earthquake here in LA. I still enjoy antiquing, and occasionally buy unusual glass items. But I now use them all the time. No more storing and saving for my kids. ;-))

GALE I haven't seen the light blue glass. Not the real stuff anyway. I have a biscuit jar from   mileskimball.com  that is light blue but it's just the reproduction of one. It's so pretty. Ladies I can't buy that sugar and creamer because I can't afford it but wish I could! NIKKI There's someone who wants your stuff when you're gone! Somebody looking for a great discovery somewhere someday! Out of my two girls there won't be anyone that I know who will want my stuff either but I tell myself that somebody somewhere... VERLEE it's so sad that you lost all that in an earthquake! I don't remember that one even though I'm just further up from L.A. in the valley about maybe 6 hours. Ladies I used to have a HUGE collection of green glass things and sadly had to sell those when my-no-good-of-an-ex didn't send child support checks for a year and the kids were just 5 years and the other 6 months. I wanted to be a stay at home mom and selling those gave me a small chance to carefully look for a job. Found that physical therapy was the thing I was good at. So my new love is now the pink.

Hi Vicki,Just keep looking.some how these things show up and it's affordable.I wouldn't be able to move had I not thinned my collection from time to time.My hubby worked so hard and long hours to try and make ends meet and sometimes they just couldn't meet so I had garage sales and  this would get us through hard times. My mom left me her set of dishes they are Poppy trail, the green rooster these are from the forties and she was never able to buy the completer pieces so now that is my quest.I will buy one piece a month until I have all the pieces that I want. This is the pattern.I just bought the creamer and sugar bowl and salt and pepper shakers that go with this set. After that I'll just keep looking for the hugger salt and pepper shakers I have just started collecting.

Gale, I remember that you were going to collect the rest as your mother couldn't. It's good that you showed me the pattern so I can help look for you. You know, I'm always sure to find a wide variety on  etsy.com  Hugger salt & pepper? Does that mean they fit in together? While my eyes are gazing at the glass they'll also be looking for roosters! I used to have garage sells too until I honestly didn't have anything of value left.

I love all of the depression glassware.  Both of my Grandmother's still have theirs.  My step-mother collects white milk glass but if you dont' get from reputable place/person, it's not valuable

Hi Vickie you should still treat yourself every now and then.I can't believe some of the prices on all this stuff when i was 12 I started collecting you could get depression glass for pennies now it's through the roof on many pieces.Did you know that there are clubs, depression glass clubs for collectors!
I will keep my eyes open and will let you know if I see any good deals on pink depression glass.

The bunny hugs salt and pepper shakers were designed by a woman by the name of Van Tellingen she was an illustrator of children's books. She designed these for a company, don't remember the name of the company.I bought these at Goodwill for a whole Dollar. Not knowing anything about them, just because they appeared to be vintage. As far as I know she had 9 different salt and pepper shakers.I just found the ducks and I don't even want to say what I paid for them. These were produced during the 40's,50's and I think early 60's.There was a fire in the factory and all the molds were lost. These were designed to be picked up together to salt and pepper your food.
I think these are the cutest little things.

Gale I didn't know that there were clubs for the glass! The shakers are cute and now I will also watch for these. It was interesting reading about the history of the shakers. I think I was born in the wrong time era. Smile I like many vintage things. I feel like I'm displaced living in a town and when I lived in the mountains for five years while I was married I felt like I was "at home." Came to live back in my home town and I feel like home sick for the mountains. I like camping and "home-y" food. There's other things but don't want to bore you! :)

The only two pieces of glass that I have collected are Green Glass with raised flowers decorating them and raised gold paint. I did a bit of looking and I think they are Czechoslovakian.  One is a decanter and one a vase.  I have no idea as to their value.  I got both when I was a kid, we were in Florida visiting my Aunt and she loved going to Auction houses.  I liked these two pieces and I think I paid about $4.00 for each of them.  I got them at different times so I was surprised that they go so well together.
The other piece that I have and I got it in an odd way, I have a Tiffany Crystal decanter from the 1970's.  It is still full.  I was clearing out a storage unit for someone and when I called them about this they said they did not want it so I kept it. There were a few other commemorative decanters as well, they are full also.  So I have several full decanters sitting in a china cabinet.

I know what you mean.I feel very displaced I'm 55 years old and feel so much more comfortable in "MAYBERRY" than in our modern times.I love to live a basic simple life.I too love animals, nature, art and of course porcelain, pottery and vintage glassware. My absolute favorite is carnival glass antique and vintage.Somehow having this and being able to see it daily brings a joy to me.I remember collecting it ,where I got it and it was done at a very happy time in my life collecting with my mom and dad.I have thinned the herd, but still have some very nice pieces.I still do collect here and there but I'm unable to go out by myself so that has become limited.

Hi Nikki, Have you tried looking on Ebay.I do that periodically so I have somewhat of an idea what something is worth.I snip pictures and keep them for reference.I have a pink sugar and creamer that I have been trying to find out about My mom bought them in the early 70's I have never seen the pattern before. Finally just resently I looked it up under pressed glass there it was in clear, dating prior to depression glass in the earlier 1900's I found just a picture but not a value. Now Tiffany anything has a huge retail value that you should be able to find more out about that.Nice find! In all my years of collecting I only own one piece of Tiffany jewelry a sterling silver bangle bracelet.I love sterling bangles.I found that one at Goodwill also for a $1 I knew it was silver and but didn't know it was Tiffany until I got it home to look at it with a magnifying glass.I really need to invest in a jewelers loop Bad eye sight. It is very nice hobby that can pay off instead of cost you.I sold only to invest in better pieces.I also have gotten us out of a bind or two and have made some life long friends as well.along the way.Research your things it is fun and you'll learn a lot as well.Who knows you might want to start collecting too!

Vicki - it was the '94 Northridge EQ. You may remember hearing about the 3 story apartment building that fell down, so the 3rd floor became the 1st and only floor. Very sad, with many lives lost. Which valley are you in? We're in Santa Clarita Valley, just at the bottom of the Grapevine, off the 5 frwy.
