In Response to Re: GALE-PINK GLASS : Vicki - yes, that's the quake! We live in a lovely valley between the 5 and 14 freeways (do you know where Magic Mountain is?), and both freeways collapsed in several places around us. The good part was there was no traffic and no trucks to contend with for nearly a year. The bad part was my hubby spent 4-5 hours ONE WAY, commuting to his job. We are at around 1800 ft. in elevation, and have 100 deg. summers, but it's dry, so it only feels like 80 or so. We get into the 30's in the winter, and have had snow occasionally. The snow doesn't stay, but it's fun for a little while! We love the Sacramento Valley! Our oldest son went to UC Davis, and we love that campus.

Verlee, our summers hot and muggy! Using a swamp cooler just doesn't help in those kind of days! You know what a swamp cooler is? I figured that you do but i've ran into people that don't know. I'm further up from Davis about 2/12 hours in a smaller town. Sacramento is just way too much for me to handle! As Gale so aptly says I do better in a place like "Mayberry." You should visit my neck of the woods!
