Yell    What a mess! This afternoon I was baking hard and fast ........ what a mess I had all over the kitchen..
Then I saw/felt there was lots of water in my big throw rug in front of the sink. So much water it was running all over.
I supposed the miserable cats had turned over something and carried the rug outside.  Then i scrubbed and scrubbed with big towels, finally getting all the water up.  Back to work.

A while later I was running the disposal and saw there was even more water on the bare floor!!  Lots of water.   I finally had the sense to open the under the sink cabinet door ........... it was flooded.   Water standing so deep on the floor of the cabinet it was pouring onto the floor.

Those miserable pipes - not yet 3 years old - had simply fallen apart.  The main one was broken!
The plumber will be here in 8-8:30 in the morning.

Have you had any disasters lately?

Nothing as major and messy as what you have, Nancy. Your pipes should not have leaked already. How unfortunate.

Now 24+ hours have passed so I can use my garbage disposal again!!
I don't use it that much but being without it for a few hours seemed horrible.

Not to be Pollyannaish but at least the floor is clean and the rug is clean.....
Make sure you check with homeowners insurance it may be covered.
I spent yesterday draining the pipes in the old house and pouring RV antifreeze down drains so they will not freeze.  Have no heat in the old house since the boiler cracked.  The good part of that is all the water from all the radiators had drained out so I did not have to spend much time doing that.  Shut the well off.
Went out to dinner with my husband and our daughter, son in law and grandkids.  Then something happened with my husband and had to call paramedic.  Spent the next 5 hours in the ER until they got him a room.  Still don't know what happened. Don't know if he just passed out or if he had a seizure. Guess a round of MD visits next week!.

Nancy, there's nothing worse than water where it isn't supposed to be.  A few years back I noticed it was wet outside around where the well-head is.  No other area was wet.  As it turned out there was a hole in one of the pipes that went down into the well.  Fortunately it was one of the upper ones so the well guys didn't have to pull out all 400 feet of it.

Well, this past month, the sump pump blew, had to get another one.  Then got hit hard with Hurricane Irene and had water in basement and no electric for 18 hours.  Then was hit hard again with flooding and water in basement from Hurricane Lee.  Now this week, the hot water heater acted up and we had water all over in the utility room and the water came out on my hardwood floors.  So yes, we had disasters!

Seems there are need to be put on the prayer chain.
Nikki's husband for answers and healing and strengh for Nikki herself.
Nancy to have correct repairs and that nothing else goes awry.  Nancy shares the products of her baking skills with others - no further problems please.

Oh, Susan what a mess! - What a disaster.  Mine was small and cost just $104 which I've been told is a big bargain with a plumber.  Bet yours cost a lot more.
And Judy -- whew.  Yup, my disaster was hardly a disaster, was it?

Any disaster counts as a major one when you are in the middle of it!  But as bad as it is, you always hear later of someone else's really major disaster or problem and you realize that maybe your problem was a mere "bump in the road".  I hope all the "bumps" smooth out for everyone and today is a better day.

Our upstairs commode tank leaked, water came through the ceiling in the family room below.  We need to repaint anyway.  It seems to always be something.

You are so right, there is always someone worse off than you!  I sure do hope and pray that every one gets un-bumped!   Good luck to you all!
