I'm sure that with all the holiday shopping that has been taking place over the last weeks, that some of you must have had a funny moment or two.

I must share something that happened to me!  My husband and I were at the Mall trying to finish up some of our shopping.  We had just left Williams Sonoma where we bought one of our granddaughters a new Sno-cone machine.  ( she is the queen of Sno-cones, believe me)  Anyway we had arrived at the area where Santa was greeting children.  There was a sitting area for parents and shoppers behind his stand.  My Husband all of a sudden escorted me over to the sitting area and told me that he had to do some secret shopping, and if I would just sit down and rest a while he would be back soon.

Well, I looked around where he had stationed me, and realized that I was right across from a "Game Stop" store.  I knew there was a new video game out that was in a series that he enjoyed playing.  (Several years ago, my son and son-in-law bought him an X Box 360 so that their high school sons would have something to do when they came over) OH!!  Guess what G-Pa ( or grandpa) liked playing the games too!!

I figured this would be a great time to pick up the game while he was shopping elsewhere.  So, I ran over to the store, and told the young man clerk what I wanted.  He picked up the game and brought over to me, but said that he needed to warn me about the content. It was for PG 13 players.  I looked at him and said my husband is 74 is that mature enough?  The young man dissolved into laughter and could hardly finish the transaction.

In any case I think I gave him a good laugh, and I was able to get back to my seat before my husband came back.

Well, Nancy,  He didn't disappoint.  He bought me 2 more Henckels Knives to replace a couple of mine that were beyond sharpening.  They were very much appreciated!

Ahhh ......good knives are better than a necklace!

This year I have no funny shopping stories.  I did not get to participate in the mayhem that is called Holiday Shopping.  As a matter of fact I missed most of the post holiday shopping.
I did not get my cast off and the ok to drive until the evening of the 27th.  the 28th I went to see a supervisor I had at my old job, he had called me to tell me that  it was his last day and I wanted to go wish him a healthy, happy retirement.  Since my 2 nieces work in the same building I stopped to see them.   I thought friends were more important than bargain hunting.
So I took my husband shopping with me yesterday and all I can say is....I did not miss a thing! and I saved a lot of money by not being able to shop the month of December.

This happened to me about 5 years ago.  In '04, I had a total hip replacement that didn't go well in regards to the healing.  I spent two years in therapy, and left the house just to go to therapy and/or the Doctor's office(s).  After about two years, I finally ventured out to do some Christmas shopping, and when I presented my charge card, the clerk entered it, and looked at me rather strangely.  She asked for a photo I.D., and then told me that according to their records, I had passed away two years ago!!  What a weird feeling that was!!  I suppose when you have not been seen in public for over two years, people might assume that you have left the area in one way or another!

Oh Darla - that's awful.   How did you convince her that you were actually alive?

My husband was with me, and he vouched for me!  Also, I bought three or four new outfits, stating that since I had not been out of the house for two years, I was way behind "fashionably".  She said she could "help" me along that line, and I still look for her whenever I get the chance to go clothes shopping.  I think I have become her "best" customer!

Darla that's a riot! A bit scary as well.
Glad it was sorted out easily, that could have been a nightmare.

Vicki, I enjoy the games on the AARP site also. Mahjongg Dimensions is my latest favorite!
