In Response to Re: First crocus:
I am in the process of planning on planting in this "new" yard of mine. I have what looks like a 5 to 10 year plan. But I want to get it all done! Problem is the trees are pretty expensive and I need several. The Tree Peonies and Hydrangeas I planted in the fall are looking good I noticed some healthy buds. I am also looking to plant some vines along 2 fences I have. I want vines that will attract hummingbirds and butterflies. So my plan is Trumpet Vine and Clematis along with some Climbing Hydrangeas. I also need bushes I figured a Bottle Brush Buckeye an American Hazelnut at least I can use them in baking and I am thinking Spicebush. I will be on the look out for plants this year many times I find great deals at the end of the season so some of these may not get planted until the fall. If any of you have had any of these plants let me know how well they do. I am in the Northern area of Illinois. Zone 5.

Nikki, I love clematis. They come in so many pretty colors. I've been thinking about getting one, but want one that doesn't get 20 feet tall.
Butterfly bush would be nice for your butterflies and they come in a few different colors. My father always said if you want trees, plant fruit trees and then you get both shade and fruit.
