Can you stand the interest and excitement?

I like my little Sears canister (it's my second one) but after being in the repair shop for almost 3 weeks I tried to use it today and it quit. It's still under warranty so I took it back AGAIN. I'm afraid of waiting another 2 or 3 weeks to get it back.

I took a deep breath and bought a Dyson canister. I'm absolutely broke for the rest of the month.

What vacuum do you like?

Nancy , you are so so lucky to have a Dyson. I hear they are great...My niece has one and sings its praises all the time. I have an Eureka upright, but I don't use it, my cleaning lady does. With my arthritis it is nearly impossible to push it around. I do have a little dirt devil electric broom which works great on hardwood floors.

I have had a Rainbow for the last 14 years, I LOVE IT! No bags, You put water in the container and it helps with dust, etc.,
good attachments for my use, etc.,

I bought it on credit, because of the high price, and had it paid off in about 8 months, but have been very happy with it. You can find good refurbished ones of this brand I have heard though!

Thanks Barbara -- I bought the Dyson because of the Dyson praise I've read about the last year or so. I was/am so concerned by the price.

Hi RoxAnna (pretty name!!) Welcome to VBB .... and thanks for your vac advice. I desperately need a good vacuum for use at church. The woman who shares my interest in church tools wants the church to buy a pre-owned Rainbow for me to use. I'm not in favor of that because of the water container. My little chuch does not have a water faucet upstairs ..... for water I would have to walk down stairs, down a l-o-n-g hall to the kitchen, then back upstairs again. I could dump water out the front door but ...........

This is such a problem .... so little money, so much need.
I promise I'll quit whining.

And RoxAnna -- We have fun here - honest. It's not a steady whine. Please tell us about yourself.

I have a old vacuum, can't remember the name of it. Currently we have no carpets in the house. We built this house with our dogs in mind.
My son has a Dyson, he loves it.

I have a Eureka (the boss, pet lover) vacuum. I like it. It does a much better job than my last one. I have a friend who has a Dyson and absolutely loves it. She's saving up to get the hand held version because she likes it so much.

I have a wind tunnel and I like it alot. It has a hepa filter and you will not believe what you get out of your carpets; I vacuum every week! Unbelievable!!

Hi NANCY ; We had an ELECTROLUX Super J Model w W/ rug shampooer & floor polising attachments (for nearly 30 years& it traveled around the country w/us all those years); no problems, worked quite well all that time.Bags became difficult to obtain:only sold on the other end of town(5 miles away) They kept trying to convince us to buy a new model( why?????????; ours still worked great.The service that cleans our building's hallways uses a small Sears canister; does a great job for them; manybuildings oversevera lyears. Sears also sells bags for our Electrolux; cos tless & they're less than a mile from our home.While there; to buy bags; we looked at vaccum cleaners; found the one our service uses on sale & got it that day.That was nearly 5 years ago & once assembled has given no trouble since.
Right out of the sealed carton, afew parts were mising.Hubby took it back & w/receipt was given a whole new unit in the box. No troubles at all in 5 years, cleaning up after our 2 cats( one long haired)Isn't it interesting, how poor service people can turn you away from a once loved brand.???

Good luckw/your new( very expensive)Dyson.......I heard good things about them; but they'reoutofour league to purchase

I've been playing with that new Dyson today and it is incredible -- absolutely incredible. I hate housework so I'll never "love" a vacuum cleaner but I sure like this one.
My little Sears cannister found its own way around corners, the end of a bed and such ... the Dyson doesn't. It's electrical cord isn't as long!! But the Dyson picks up stuff I didn't know was there.

We have an electrolux central vac which my husband installed years ago. It cleans well, except you have to drag the long hose around which can be a pain. We also have a Hoover upright, which is good.

My son has a Dyson and LOVES it!!!!!!!

Gale -- only my bedroom has carpeting .... the rest is wood (fake wood? very thin wood? treated wood?) and I use a vac on that too. Sweeping with a broom is impossible here ..... these darn cats chase a broom and attack anything swept up.

About the wood flooring ..... working on it for two years I've never once got it clean without streaks. g-r-r-r-r-r I hate those streaks but at least I'm finally used to them.

Sears canister vacuum that is very old. Bless his heart, my husband is the vacuumer of the household and I haven't ever heard him complain about it so I guess it's good! ♥

Hi Nancy,I do have an Orec vacuum but seldom use it,I sweep the floor at least 3 x a day because of Romeo's paper tearing LOL.But my favorite vacuums are Romeo and Rocky by far. LOL

I have requested on several occasions the Purple Animal Dyson 25. It is over $500. so I keep wishing. They say its really good when you have pet hair. I have a secret stash and I WILL BUY ONE FOR MYSELF in a couple of years! Unless they come out with a riding vacuum with attachments! LOL

Our son suggested I invest in one of the robots vacs. Yea right! With my pets they would be bouncing off the wall trying to catch the darn thing! LOL
