I know, Nancy and Marie.....it is difficult to decide!! I, too, chose Christmas, but Thanksgiving is also a real favorite. I think because they are "family time" when we get to spend the day with loved ones....and eat lots of food, too, of course!!
There's always lots to be thankful for on both of those days!! Don't you agree?

Yes - lots to be thankful for on those days.
I guess we have the MOST to be thankful for on Easter.  And that gives lots of food too!  We're lucky people.

I love Christmas, the real meaning of Christmas. We have to stop with this elaborate gift giving that's not Christmas. When I was a young girl my mother would start baking a couple of weeks before Christmas.Just hundreds and hundreds of dozens of all kinds of cookies ,nut and poppy seed rolls. She would package them to give away as gifts and of course we had more than enough. We would go visiting and friends would come to our home.We would always go to midnight Mass. One year,I was in junior high at the time,My cousin came home from the Air force and we partied at my Aunt's home for two weeks straight. No gifts exchanged, just good food, fun and family.I'll never forget those times. We went bowling and roller skating also.I love being with my sons and husband I can only hope that my son's will remember our holidays as magic.

I love Christmas and I think it was because of my Mom!  She would make the Christmas cookies, decorate the house, play Christmas music, and my Mom would cook and bake, making us all our favorite goodies to eat.   Families would stop by to visit, good food...she just made everything so special and magical, especially when Santa came.  My Dad worked for the Reading Railroad and was called out on train wrecks so it was up to my Mom who always made sure we had a special Christmas.  But you know, we NEVER forgot the meaning of Christmas.

I agree, Gale.....Christmas has gotten way too commercialized with the gift giving. We do give gifts, but we try to give reasonable ones.....lists usually consist of things each person needs and has use of, just simple things really.....hand lotions, chapstick, soap, copy paper, etc. Last year, my sister said they didn't need any gifts, but I told her I had to get them something. So she gave me her list.....groceries!! She made a list of the brands she uses and it was fun shopping for the stuff because I bought most of it on sale using coupons!! Can't beat that.....and it was things that she needed and would use!
But I agree....Christmas isn't about gifts....even though we received the best gift of all that day.....the birth of our Lord!!!
And yep, lots of baking and cooking makes it fun, too!!! When my nieces and nephews were in college, I used to make them cookies and fudge for Christmas. Then they would take it back to college with them after break was over.

I agree with gale g.   I love Christmas, the reason, music, food, baking, etc.  I think Christmas reminds most of us of our families, Mom's especially!!  Growing up my mom as well as my aunts baked and decorated and really made Christmas for us, Not just gifts. Also, my grand daughter was born last christmas, she is my joy and we will always remember that Christmas!!  I also really like Easter !  Same reason, but also very commerciallized as well.     Debi

I love Christmas because of the promise that was fulfilled on that day. I am also like Easter because the promise that was made at Christmas had come to fruition.  A lot of the excitement of Christmas and Easter are bound up in the delight on children's faces, but as Carol and Gale said we must remember what they are all about.

My favorite holiday is Christmas, but also Thanksgiving is super.  Holidays are a great reason for gatherings of relatives, friends, and acquaintences.  These are times to remember those without family or friends and try to include them too.  Also try to take a short time to visit those in nursing homes or the hospital.  Everyone needs someone.  There is a "reason for the season."  Mary Ann S.

You're exactly right, Angela......it's exciting, isn't it, to see the fulfillment of that promise! Where would we all be without it? The true "Reason for the Season!"
And oh my, yes, I love watching little ones at Christmas as they open gifts and their eyes just sparkle as they marvel at the Christmas tree! It's precious to watch them!
