Much earlier today I posted that I already bought a great little bone-in Honeysuckle turkey bre ast ... that's hogging room in my overpacked freezer.  I have a wee bit left from Thanksgiving so I'm starting to wonder if I should plan on roast beef. ???

I KNOW the cats - rotten beasts - (right now Peaches is asleep on my lap so I can't move) prefer turkey but I don't want too much piled up in the freezer.

No doubt about it....turkey and stuffing, with cranberries, peas or squash, mashed taters and gravy, chocolate fruitbread, zucchini bread, olives, pickles, fruit salad, and pies for dessert!! Whew!! And now....since I haven't even had breakfast yet this morning, all that talk of food is making me hungry!!!

On Christmas Eve we usually have ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans, perogies (like a potato cheese half moon ravoli) with onions and butter.  Then there are the cookies and peppermint ice cream pie and coffee ice cream pies with fudge sauce.

Yesterday I was in the neighboring town ....my vac died while I was cleaning at church so I had to get it to a repair shop .... and I went to the "nice" grocery store.  I between bought a really nice little beef roast so it's here too.  I can decide between the turkey and the beef.

lol - I sure wish Santa would bring me a new vac

For Thanksgiving it is always Turkey, if my daughter comes over with her family then I have to add ham.
Christmas it is always "Prime" Rib with all the great sides.
For the rib roast often I get a whole one at one of the warehouse club stores and then I cut steaks and wrap them for the freezer.  Much less expensive that way.  Although if one of the stores has the rib roast on sale I forego the whole one.  This year Meijer's Grocery store has the rib roast for $4.49 a pound. Just can't beat that.
It would be interesting to see what other stores around the country have them for.  Anyone care to tell me what you are paying?

Very difficult decision to make.....  Nibble on the rib bones or save them for the Beef Barley soup.  Beef Barley is an all time favorite of mine.  It is one of the best "cold winter day, stick to your ribs, warm you to the tips of your toes" soups there is.
Although right now I have a pot of Split Pea with ham (from the ham we had at Thanksgiving) simmering on the stove along with a loaf of Rye Bread waiting to go in the oven. That soup is a runner up in the warm you up category.
