MARY L ;The meal of  apetizers suits meto a"T"I often ( On most wekends)serve a special (Asian) soup w/ as many Asian appetizers as I can manage, lots easier now that so many prepared & frozen options are  available. I serve a traditional Asian dessert:fresh fruit platter) & if I can,  an Asian style pumpkin sponge cake or Almond cookies.
If the Asian market has them,I get some  moon cake cookies( a NewYear tradition
(  in August) that are & filled w/ black, red  or yellow bean paste,  or melon. In  months other than August;    an easy choice; green tea ice cream.
For visiting  (younger) grand kids [ under 15yo]; things like chicken nuggets/tenders( several dipping/dunk sauces; French fries,  mini quiche in filo dough, mini meatloaf pizzazz( made in muffin tins) or meatballs on toothpicks; nachos or  pizza . They too seem to enjoy anassortmentofappertzers( smallerportionsincsethey  don't really like one o f them. Frown
Another good choiceone , for kids (ofallages)  is chicken skewers( terryaki;BBQ sauce; or honey -mustard glaze).
As empty nesters, we don't usually go whole hog  at  meals; simply a large variety of fave apetizers & desserts is just perfect for usTongue out

This year(Christmas)I would like to serve  lasagna & eggplant parmesean.I already( justtoday)  made the rmarble cheesecake to end the meal.Hubby ishaving out-paient surgery today, so plans for meals are on hold till we see what his recovery time is( need to go shopping for  ricotta cheese & egplant.[I havethesauce& cheese shreds]  We had reservations for a Christmas "feast of 7 fishes"but the restaurant changed  its' menu;;  replacing the JUMBO shrimp course  w/octopus.; and  hubby canceled our reservations.Frown
We may have to show up at your house  or'"settle" for canned orsplit pea  soup & crackers....I'll bring the cheesecake & some  Italian meatballs on toothpicks( should fit  n w/the rest of your menuWinkLaughing

Christmae ve we ( don't have dinner we have 5 or 6  appetizers like pizza bites, brie in filo cups, egg rolls, etc and of couse Christmas cookies, cake ,fudge

Hey Ann --- you're invited to my house.  You and hubby want turkey or roast beef?
