I do like going to the movies for a special occasion and it's something we both like. Afterwards I like to go and get a bite to eat.

We used to go to the movies about every 2 months, but haven't been going that often the past few years. Probably because the film choices haven't been that great! I buy discount tickets through AAA and save a few dollars on each ticket. Our local Regal theatre also offers a frequent user card, and after a few movies you get free things at the snack bar. I absolutely REFUSE to pay the prices of popcorn or soda or candy from the snack bar, even though that's where they make their money.

It is rare now for us to go to movies.  First of all, it is too expensive.  Then, it is too LOUD!!!  I have even taken ear plugs; but I still come out with my head pounding!  I don't understand why they have the sound up to maximum!  I can't even remember the last movie we went to see.  Once in awhile, we rent one; but that has lessened also.

I don't go to the movies much. They are expensive and the language in them is
not fit to hear. What happened to the good movies of yestered ?

I have not been able to get to movies much since my husbands diagnosis.  Since I have a friend's daughter staying with us for a while I have been able to get away one day a week and I have seen several movies in the past few months.
I go to  an afternoon movie so it is a bit less expensive.
I have seen
HUGO.  Amazing I loved this movie and I will most likely purchase it when it comes out.
WAR HORSE.  Loved this one. I took my Grandson.
GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO.  I have not read the books, I do have them. I now want to see the original movies.
Have a few others on my list to see and I will try to get them in before the young lady moves back home.
Then I will have to try to either take my husband or I know I will have to look into getting someone to come in once or twice a week for a few hours. But I know I need a break and time for myself.

LOL LOL LOL -- I had not been to a movie since 1971.  Then about two years ago I took a deep breath and went.  I did it, i did it.

time for yourself is very important when you are a caregiver for someone, because if you don't look after yourself -----------it can be damaging to your own health---did you know that there are orgs that can help-----if he has medicare he should qualify for some home health care services-----------i learned the hard way that you should call the home health agency directly and let them arrange everything-----they even call his dr for approval--------also there are groups that support caregivers-----------check on line to see what's available to you

i had 2 sisters who have huntington's disease-----my baby sister's nice husband divorced her and left her with 2 teenage daughters and managed to get almost all of their assets when she was diagnosed ----and i was newly retired----as she couldn't drive anymore-------i had to do everything for her , banking, bill paying and shopping---------i even shared my dr visits with her as i had to be in with her----- --=-and she died in 2008

my other sister was widowed and had one daughter and six grandkids-------she fell and broke her hip in july 2010 -------and i had to take over her medical --------almost a year of driving 130 miles to the nursing home-------and 6 round trips from there to ft worth where she decided to have her hip replacement -and then she decided to move in with me-------------but i just couldn't take that on again-------i feel bad about it but i just couldn't continue

Nellie
I am going to a support group.  Unfortunately it meets only once a month.  My time with them will end once my friends daughter returns home in May.
We have been denied eligibility through the VA.
I am going to have to look into having someone come in a few hours a week.

I am sure your sister understands.
You do have to take care of yourself.  If you don't you are no help to anyone.
I do hope her daughter is of help to her.

No, I have long legs and have to fight the urge to stick them over the
seat in front of me. They never have enough room for my legs.

Darla, I totally agree with you.  Too loud.  Also even though we always sit in the very back row, it is still too close.  Movie theaters used to be much bigger so sitting in the back was fine.  Now the theaters are smaller but I think they've made the screens bigger so it is almost like you are sitting in the front row.  I've used ear plugs the few times we've been.  I think it has been at least 3 years since we've been to the movies.  There aren't a lot of good films and the language has gone down the toilet so to speak

We do not enjoy movies anymore as they are so filled with filthy language, sexual content and other obscenities.  We have seen a few movies produced by a church group in Albany, Georgia.  The movies are called Fireproof, and Committed.  See them if you can.  They are wonderful.

I can't even remember the last time I was at a movie theater!  Maybe waaaaay back in the early 90's when The Lion King first came out?? Maybe? I dislike movie theaters and crowds and noisy eaters etc.  I would much rather be in my jammies, all comfy, eating my own popcorn (quietly lol) and using the "Pause" feature if I have to go to the ladies room....which by the way is clean!

I don't go to the movies very often.  Occassionally, I will take the kids when they are home from school and we can get the discount admission before noon.  So, we may go two or three times a year.
