last tuesday morning i left home as usual to pick up the rest of the sale items on the last day of sale
by habit i went to the farthest away first which happened to be out a six lane hwy w/ left turn lane in the center               as i was coming back at 55 mph   (over the limit of 50 but not as fast as the other traffic so i was alone back there)           a car on the rt side of oncoming lanes made a  u-turn in front of me causing me to brake so hard everythng in my car joined me in the front      and as he came around i could see him laughing like an idiot (where do all these people come from?  i seem to find at least one every time i go somewhere)

i had to stop at the next restaurant   a popeyes chicken  and sit for about an hour and then just go home without all the extra butter and cream soups that were so very cheap (1.99 and 50cents)  and are much more this wk

i actually feel like i had an accident       jerky and trouble focusing on anything   so i've not been on-line much
but at nearly 70 i feel like i passed a test of some kind by being able to avoid a very bad collission

I hope you are feelinf better now. That is a terrible thing to happen to you.
Go to the police and give them whatever information you can remember.

Nellie -- it's horrible that something like that happened to you!  I'm so sorry it did.
We all have missed you so much

Nellie, how scary.  I'm so glad you were quick thinking and got away from that idiot.  Like someone said, too bad you couldn't get that driver's license plate.  So glad you are ok.

Glad you didn't get hurt Nellie.  There are a lot of bad drivers out on the roads lately.  Whenever I come across one that does stupid stuff I just pray that if they have an accident it only involves them, not an innocent person.

I'm also happy you were able to avoid an incident, Nellie. As I told my sons when they each started driving, always be aware of the other drivers around you.

thanks everyone
in a metroplex like houston where i live    the police would not take a report even if i had a photo
since there was no collision

and yes maxine i was speeding            in texas they call it going with the flow        and most of the traffic was moving at more than 60 mph  and it's pretty scary when they are tailgating also

am i the only person on this forum that will admit to 'speeding'            in texas almost all traffic moves at 10 miles over the posted speed   because that's the point where they will give you a ticket

Oh ya got me...
Truth be told on the expressway I have hit 70 at times.  Not often but I have done it.
On everyday driving I often go 5 miles above the limit.  I do not drive above in construction zones or school zones. The fines for speeding in those areas just are not worth the chance of getting a ticket. I suppose that could be said for everywhere but we live in the real world.

Nellie, I almost bet the jerk of a driver was on a cell phone at the time he made his U turn.
The amount of adrenaline that was surging through your system in response to what happened is probably the same as if you had been in the accident so your body's response was the same in either case that is why it felt like you had been in the accident.
Glad you are alright.

It is unfortunate, but at least you were not injured.

Nelli, i admit to driving a bit over the speed limit about 5 miles on the freeway. Here in California most speed limits around me are 60 but everyone goes 65 or more. And the guy was a jerk.

Nellie, I am so glad that you are all right.  Something like that really scares you.  I've had a few "close calls", even when I have had the right of way and going the speed limit.  I ended up going very carefully for the next month at least.
