of course we onVBB know that chocolate fllls both needs( soul satisying & healthy benifits too.Crackers made  from refined flours & , fried, offer very little in the way of substance, unless
you cover them w/PB or cheese or crumbe them into your chili or soups.
Baked cracker cost more; whole grain crackers are prohibitively high priced.Money mouth
People check outofthe grocery store paying over $150; w/ only juice drinks, soft drinks, white bread, fried crackers; no meat/fish  poultry, or veggies or fruits. we send under $50 & have fresh & frozen  fruits & veggies; fresh fish; fresh & frozen poultry. And most importantly (   I confess) Embarassedto us; the ingredients to bake cookies, brownies, & cakes & breads. ( whole grain wheat & oats, dried fruits & nuts). I'm a( little)compulsive about buying healthier ingredients since I firmly believe that our bodies & minds need quality nutrition to function  @ their best.  Smile

I try to eat whole grains, lean meat and fruits and vegetables.  Stay away from the whites - white flour, white sugar.  Avoid transfats.  Also try to eat smaller portions.  Drink plenty of water.

Unfortunately, I eat to eat.  I try to eat the right things every once in a while, but my sweet tooth always wins out.

I try to make a balanced diet for myself and family.Even when we have pizza I try to make at least a small salad..@ least 95% of the time it is a balanced meal. Most of my baking is fruit based with nuts.I'm not real big on chocolate, probably because of my ethnic background, there is some chocolate but not alot.I'm not a big milk drinker but I enjoy yogurt and cheese to make up for lost calcium. We eat a lot of fresh fruit and whole wheat pita bread and I'm really liking those Flat out Flat bread, lower carbs and increase in fiber.

Eating is fun and ideally it should feed both body and soul.  I was fortunate to grow up in a family with a large garden so our diet was varied and mostly freah stuff.  I chomped my way though the summer.  Nearly everything I was sent to the garden or berry patch to pick was tasted.
I still like a variety of fresh stuff.  Sweets are o.k. but there is nothing yummier than berries as you pick them.

GRANA  here;
Thesuggested  FOOD PLATE; ideally:
1/2 filled w/ veggies ( cooked crisp-tender or eaten  raw
1/4 filed w a protein source( lean meat. fish, poultry, legumes, lentils, wholegrains
1/4 filedw/ a starch( wholegrain/brown rice.; potato w/skin on  whole grainn pasta
Most Americans fill their plate s w/ protein source
, somestarch & atinybitoof veggies
They/we think thatFrench fries w/ketchup is 2 veggies;(potato & tomato) it is really one starch and one condiment( extra) [ some sugar, some sodium.
The combination is a winner; taste wise but not nutrition wiseSurprised
If eggies are ust ot your thing; learn howto cookthem properly( notmushy/overcooked OR  try fresh/frozenfruits  asan alternative.

Learning to enjoy eating well/properly is helpful in ahieving  healthy weight; lower holesterol; fewer illnessess.Bakedgods preparedw/ less fats; less refinedsugar; wholegrains fruits nuts can bepartofthishealthiereatingpattern
Remember
chocolate is now known to be good for us

We try to eat healthy, but sometimes it doesn't work. Stress is a great motivator for eating junk! Chocolate in any form really helps and it does have an effect on the mind even for a short period.

I try to eat healthy; but end up eating what I want.....NOT what I should want!  So far I have lived 73 years and am in rather good health (except for Rheumatoid Arthritis) so why change now?!  I enjoy the "Good Stuff".

Eating well on  a budget is getting harder but not impossible.  As the old saying goes "everything in moderation" seems to be a good mantra to follow.

I don't think most of us are "drive-thru" junkies since we pretty much all cook and bake our own things.  My Mom has a friend who watches everything she eats( getting on the scale sometimes twice or more a day) and has a fit when she gains a pound.  That's nuts!  And the poor woman wonders why she gets sick all the time.

Eating healthy, getting some exercise and having a treat once in a while won't make anyone gain weight.

As far as the ketchup counting as a veggie, somebody needs to tell our government that a tomato is a FRUIT!  LOL

hubby& I are fortunate; eating fresh fruits & veggies is very satisfying & pleasurable to us; so is eating cookies & pastry; icecream & nuts.  Hubby walks5 miles every day to be able to keep eating those things he loves while maintaing his (pre-marriage) 32" waist.I 'm confined to  a wheelchair;   mywaist is no longer the same as when we were dating.I cut back on portions of the cookies & brownies but stil cannot get my old waistline measurements to come back.Frown

We try to eat healthy; but occasionally we have our sweets.  I love to cook and bake.  We do all in moderation.
