In Response to Re: HOW DID YOU / DIDYOU PREPARE FOR THIS SNOWSTORM????????:
Our son, his wife and kids are north of Chicago. Heard they expected quite a bit of snow starting last night. We moved to SC from Syracuse, NY and I see from the news that they, too, are to get 5-12 inches. Initially, they were to get quite a bit more but updated reporting makes that less snow fall. They will, however, be getting the ice and sleet like many of the other states. Thinking of all of you in the storm's path and hoping it won't be nearly as bad as predicted. We'll be at 67 degrees today with rain from the edge of the storm that is moving through the Mississippi valley.

I live in pretty much the same area. Got quite a bit of snow, about 3 feet, drifts much higher. It is due to get colder.
I did not do much to prepare, I have quite a bit of stuff in the pantry, in cabinets and in the refrigerator and freezer. I think we would do ok for several days. Possibly a week. Power is the thing though. With no power we have no water. (We are on a well.) But melting snow is fine for flushing toilets. Stove is electric but got a gas grill that I could use.
