THE BEST DAY EVER.

We all start off our day with things we need to do, a list. I made 2 pots of soup before my friends and I went shopping. We save money all year long to shop for others.We had $500.00 this year.We met in the store, we all had list, all had a mission.My friend and I were looking at some Patriots shirts on sale.There was an old man between us,he was having a hard time reading the sizes.To tell you the truth so was I. I asked if he needed help, he nodded.We ended up helping him. He was anice man,. He told us he was 97,took the bus here . He would have to wait over an hour for the bus. I was impressed. We ended up talking in the line.I asked him to join us for lunch next door at Subway.He just lite up,He said he had a dream he would meet an angel today.Then he laughed and said he met four angels.This was the best day ever. We all had lunch, hung with him until his bus picked him up.I told him I could meet him here for lunch every Tuesday..My son works there he will call me when Benny arrives.We all had the best day ever.What a story teller he was, it was great.I think we all got a special gift that day....I 'am still smiling. I can not wait to have lunch with him. To hear all his stories. I guess you never know how your day will turn out.

Hi Julie,That is so nice that you girls go out like that together.It's so wonderful that you had lunch with that old man you girls probably made his year.I believe we meet people in our lifetimes for a reason.That's nice that you are going to be having lunch with him every week that's nice that you both can have something to look forward to.I have always loved older people some of the things that they talk about has always fascinated me,so full of knowledge and insight.It's a shame that some feel useless, that's so sad.Maybe he is an angel.I know that you are.Take care Julie and enjoy your new found friend.Merry Christmas.Julie I posted that Poor mans cake recipe for you in "What are you baking?"

Oh Julie, what a heartwarming story! It sounds like you really made his day and will continue to do so with your Tuesday lunches! That's nice! I so totally agree.....you definitely are an angel.....and even that 97 year old man recognized it! Quite often the elderly are totally ignored by people and that is so sad. Many times a kind word or deed is all they need to perk them up and make them smile again. Bless you for doing that for the man!
I think it's neat, too, that you and your friends save up like that through the year to shop together at Christmastime!

That is so true, Mary Ann! And it also makes you feel good about yourself when you unselfishly do things for others. At least it does me!
And I agree totally with Hunter.....we absolutely do need more people in this world like Julie. If we did, it would be a much better place for sure!!
