I'm not going to eat any creamed herring - any kind of herring - any kind of stuff that lives in water. What are you never going to eat?

Too bad...not only are you missing some really tasty stuff.  According to those who study such, you are denying yourself some very healthful food options.
Cookies are good but what about other food groups?  In your kitchen, are there anyother food groups? lol, lol!

Oh, now come on Frances!!!  I use the food group Lunch Meat all the time.  I am very careful to include the Fried Chicken group at least twice a week.   Vegetables?  I eat potato chips and cherry tomatoes all the time.
Sheeeeeesh

(I know, I know tomatoes are fruit - not vegetable.  I use them in both groups for my diet)

I pretty much eat everything.  But I don't want to eat sushi(mainly because of things I have heard) or okra.  I did try okra once and was very turned off by the texture.  The past ten years or so I've eaten more veggies than I ever did in my first 50 years lol.  When I was younger there were only three veggies allowed in my mouth, corn, potatoes and carrots.  Still don't like peas too much but I will eat them with other things.

Nancy, green leafy veggies are good for your heart.  Maybe with a cookie on the side?  LOL.

hee hee, H.M. and Carol .......... I saw my dentist today and his assistant, as usual, pulled out my file and asked what medical problems I'd had since last visit, what meds I now take and     ................. ta da ................. what kind of candy I was currently eating.
They know I'm a candy-holic  so they laugh at me.
One time I walked into that office and there was a big bowl of  terrible, sticky, chewy candy on a table in the waiting room.   That was aimed at just me . The minute I saw it and roared laughing that bowl disappeared.

Oooh, creamed herring - haven't had that in years. The first time I had it was when my husband and I first started dating. His family is Dutch and they grew up eating it, and he couldn't believe I had never tried it before.

But, Carol, we did enjoy a batch of chocolate covered cherries over the past month!!!

Verlee,  I didn't get to make the choc. covered cherries for Christmas but I will be making them
for hubby for Valentines's Day!!  We usually had the Queen Anne choc. covered cherries but
I thought I would have time to make your recipe but ended having Christmas at our house
instead of Menifee. I will let you know how we like the choc. covered cherries. I doubt that a
batch of choc. covered cherries will last a month!! lol lol

Ok here is a quick lesson in Japanese Cuisine,People think that Sushi is raw fish it isn't some Sushi may contain raw fish,Sushi means rice.Sashimi is raw fish.I love Sushi,I grew up on it.My brother in law was Japanese and his family lived across the street from our family.I went over to play with my nieces all the time My niece's are only 4-10 years younger than myself. We are more like sisters.Their grandma made all the traditional Japanese dishes and I loved most of them except Sashimi.I never stayed for dinner when Grandma Sue had that.I did try it though so I can honestly say I don't like it.I do love raw oysters however. All of you folks that eat herring it is not cooked but cured or pickled so in essence it is raw.My favorite Sushi does contains broiled eel,it's very expensive for a small can about the half the size of a small can of tuna is around $20.I also love California roll.My boys both eat Sushi and like it .My Hubby won't touch it.We also eat Nori which is a seasoning to put on rice it contains flaked dry seaweed, dry fish flakes and toasted sesame seeds and other things as well.I guess you have to be raised eating it,although I have given many kids rice with Nori and everyone of them liked it.I also know how to make Sushi, boy I wish I had some now. :)

I won't eat anything that isn't cooked, like clams on the half shell, sushi, steak tartre, etc. I can just feel the clam screaming as it goes down! Yuk!!!
