Gas here is $3.29 a gallon and I think we are usually less than many parts of the country. What's yours? Are you making any changes in travel?

I've been hearing more & more guessing /rumors that gas prices wil be going down before Memorial dayUndecided;  but haven't seen any signs of it around here, yet.
It 'figures" that after cancelling our tentative plans to go to Atlantic City for up to a week)  cancelled due to ever- rising gas  prices, they might now come down a bit.But I'm sure we'll enjoy the new (;higher efficiency  air conditioning replacement system being installed in a cple weeks, instead of trip)Ourlocaleconomy  can use the boost, provided by this change(in our plas)  as well as the meals out we'll be eating locally for a week or more of our "staycation".Too bad the hotels & restaurants on the way to and  in A.C have lost out on our vist's spending.I've been hearring  that many vacation destinations all over are suffering from the decline in travel brought about by the never ending fuel  price escalations.I heard that one state's governor was considering eliminating gasoline taxes( about$.40 gallon to help overcome  the negative effects on  his state's economy brought about by the obscenely high  gasoline prices

All consumer goods, including food) have gone up due to ,it is claimed, th e ever higher cost of transportation.
??????Does anyone think the prices of food will come down if/as gasoline prices drop?????
'm betting NOT! The last time food  cost more "due to higher fuel prices; the price of food never went  back down when fuel prices dropped back down.Money mouth
Hubby & I are fortunate to have bought our  home on a bus route & live w/in walking distance of grocery & drug stores .Most of our fave restaurants are less than 5 miles away & a rew are less than a mile away.We eat very      little meat & much smaller portions than most people so  we've  not been hurt too badly by the higher food prices.    I'm sure glad that our two sons  are now grown up & no longer depend on us for food & clothing. But they now have their own families to take care of & I understand how difficult that  can be in these times.  I try to help out by offering lower cost (budget friendly ecipes) like( great tasting) meatloaf  & ways to use less expensive cuts of meat.; the way I did when newly married & on a very restricted budget( trying to save up for a house)
i don't think we gave our kids a realistic view of living economically;though we tried. Now hey are aving to makes saccrifices in creature comforts jus tto be  be able to pay their bills  Cry

Recently prices here(southernN.H) are hovering at about $4 gallon. Our gas tank holds about ten gallons & a fillup lasts us a few mnthshs.Once a week we drive to the grocery store.Hubby walks to  the store for  additionl / overlooked items;or the pharmacy fort those meds not on mail order. Stamps are purchased at grocr's customer service desk while we'ret here nyway. If I need" to go to Target; Hubby drops me off there on his way to the grocery store[ 1/4 mileaway & I 'd better be ready to go when he drops back to pick me up!YellOurdr'soficeisneartheMal( 5 miles away from home) & wecoordinateMALLvisits w/ 6 months dr visits. His lab is walking ( 1 mile each way) distance( in nice weather) The car is used as litle as possible & kept in good tune-up repair to get optimal mpg; easierw/us both retired, now
A recen t plummer's house call stated thath epays $150+ week for gas  &the 40 cents per mile he is paid for travel doesn't help much. He's therefore considering retiring rather than face bankruptcyYell.
Hubby used to travel 100 miles daily to get to work; no way could we afford that now! Hubby'sfave(lab)nurse is considering qutting due to high cost of gasoline. We offered to puther up here af ew days a week to help keep her available to him; she's actually better than his cardiologist at & determining his meds dosage.Wink

The doctor appts. are killing us. It is almost 100 mile round trip each week. I had to get gas yesterday in my car and I paid $35.75 for 9 gallons!! It takes more than that to keep our yard mowed during the summer. My husband said his truck is down to a bit over 1/2 tank so, I think we may hold off another week on it.

I paid 47.00 dollars to fill  my automobile tank and purchased gas to mow the weeds. That was painful.

And the first post on this forum was when I wrote with horror that gas had hit $3.29.
Now I'd write with glee if gas was $3.29

Gasoline costs are still rising. Someone sent me a joke via e-mail about the gas coupons that everyone can avail themselves of. After scrolling down on the page...the coupon...was...a...$5.00 bill!!! Not so funny or possibly untrue.Frown

It's appalling!  In New York, regular gas is between $4.15 - $4.21.  I don't understand the increase when CNN said the price of gas has gone down considerably since last Thursday yet the gas stations are increasing daily.  If I want to drive 45 - 60 minutes, I go to New Jersey where it's about 40 cents cheaper & they have a cutoff - they can't raise more than 10 cents in one week.  I reported the station 3 blocks from me for gauging.  He had no delivery in 10 days yet raised in 31 cents.

Gas in our little town outside LA is still the same as well. My gas tank is now nearly empty because I'm waiting to save a few pennies per gallon. lol
