Gas here is $3.29 a gallon and I think we are usually less than many parts of the country. What's yours? Are you making any changes in travel?

Hi SUSAN K;  After hubby was laid off (  12 yrs ago ) our COBRA insurance cost us $11015,00  month. Very high $2,000 yr deductable pp. Before the layoff insurance( much better plan) cost us $95 month
.Medicare w/ partsA;B& D supplemental is about $400 month;doesn't  cover everyrthing, has a pretty high deductable & we're very glad  to have it! It's going to be going up;will posibly cover even less;but it's something we must have  and  we've not much choice of alternativesFrown

Gas runs up and down. Right now it hovers aroung $3.55 depending on where you go. I bought gas on the 1st for $3.46 in the morning on the way to the doctors office and it had changed to $3.64 on the way back. Just legal thieves working their magic.

 The price of oil jumped to a fresh 30-month high, above $108 a barrel Monday as fighting in Libya and unrest in the Middle East continued to raise doubts about future supplies.

I live in Frederick, MD, and gas prices here vary from $3.61 to $3.75 per gallon.  Truthfully, I'm really getting scared.  I'm literally at the point where I have to decide do I buy food or put gas in the car.  This is absolutely ridiculous!

HiNANCY ;
 GREAT QUESTION: At our last fill up (last week) gas was $3.559 gallon. Fearfull of what other inreases are posibly/ likely   coming we cancelled our vacation trip to AtlanticCity( 800 miles away) We spent the expected expenses( of travel) on new air conditioning( to replace  our less efficient 25 yo old unit) also  and on .new living room furniture: sofa; chair& storage ottoman.Hubby  can spend our vacation w/ his feet up relaxing; we'll both be cooler day & night 9 foryears) . He's promised eating lunch out  as often as we desire for a whole month, too.Smile
This should be more of a " real vacation for both of us.We  ( our condo) ) have a  tennis court & in ground pool . We'll be home w/ kitties( no sitter needed) ; no wear & tear on car or him ( the driver) , maybe take in a show w/ ( lobster)lunch out  , on the seacoast  or in the Berkshire mountains (summer home of theBoston Pops) ( different menu)
All in all it's a WIN-WIN vacation choice; easier on  me too, since our home  is set up for my wheelchair & our last hotel was not as our  reservations state,d it would be. We might spend more or lessUndecided; but it should be easier & less stressfull; better for the "bottom line" /economy of our local merchants tooCoolRe: cost of

Ann - your stay-at-home vacation will be safer too!
I sure wonder about vacation spots .....
How many people will not go on a travel vacation this year?
How can those spots survive and keep employees paid?

Some friends said that gas would be above $5 before Christmas.
What will we do?

$3.89 a gallon.  The report on the news just mentioned the fact that the price of tires is also up by 15% and the depreciation of the vehicle is up as well.  More people are going for the gas/electric vehicles rather than a regular gas car.  Wonder how long the parts will be available for the Japanese vehicles.
Horse and buggy starting to sound pretty good.  Except in Chicago they are now requiring the operators of the horse drawn buggies to sanitize and deodorize the area when the horse urinates.

According to AAA we in California have the highest gas in the nation, including Hawaii and Alaska. Gas was $4.09 for regular unleaded on Sunday.
