Ann, as a diabetic I knew about cinnamon years ago. I take cinnamon every time that I eat anything. I've had diabetes for 20 years and had a great Christmas present one year (when I found out.) I haven't had trouble as much of others would for that amount of time. Last summer I took myself completely off of all prescriptions for this and went over to just using cinnamon and I have had no trouble without medications. I feel very lucky to have escaped any complications.

I did a program on cinnamon for our TOPS group. There are all kinds of
cinnamon. I really love the saigon cinnamon which I can get the cheapest
at Costco. It's only $2.69 for 10.7 oz. If you buy it at Walmart it is $4.54 for a
couple of oz. When I was in MI I went to a Penzeys spice store and got some
China Cinnamon. Penzeys also does their own mix of 4 cinnamons and it
really smells great. We have a new store here that just opened and I'm
planning on getting Penzeys mix plus other spices. When you go to a
Penzeys store you can sniff all the spices that you want. They have a lot of
wooden crates and you could spend a couple of hours there. Penzeys has
catalogs and a web site. If anyone wants it I will post it.

Having a diabetic in the family means using a lot of cinnamon.  Lowers the sugar count!

Bakery 1, The web site is www.penzeys.com and their catalogs have recipes in them.
If you order from them they usually add some new spice in free. On some of their
catalogs they have coupons. There are a lot of salt free ones  and regular ones. I
could sit for hours just looking thru it. When I was in the store in MI I got their
raspberry enlightenment free and that normally costs $8.55. Their smallest container
of spices is 1/4 cup and I think their prices are good.

The Penzey's catalog is where I found the recipe for Harvest Peach Cake.  Great pound cake and a wonderful way to use the peaches that are just not juicy and sweet enough to eat out of hand.

Ann, It isn't safe to go to Tijuana anymore. Do you remember the name of
the huge Asian market??? I would be interested in going there.

Nikki, Penzeys catalogs are really nice and the stories with the recipes
are interesting.
