I no longer put up a tree or decorate.
2 reasons for the lack of tree..
1). as most of you know my husband has Alzheimer's and something like a tree can be pretty confusing.
2). Mittens, cat #1 and Cinder, cat #2. I don't need to be trying to get cats out of a tree in my living room. The two dogs would love to chase them up a tree!
Since the grandkids no longer visit I now have another reason  to leave decorations in the basement.

I have no idea if my sister and brother in law will be here for Christmas. I have always done a prime rib for Christmas but I did get a smoker this year and I have been thinking a brisket just might be pretty good and if it is just going to be 2 of us I see no reason to make a huge meal.

I am married to a Christmas scrouge!  He has no desire to decorate, and after 56 years, he has talked me into keeping the decorations in the attic.  I did a little for the 7 year old Grandson; but the other two are 29 & 26.....they live MILES from us and rarely make it here for Christmas.  So...what's the use??!!
I guess I should look at it this way.....saves wear and tear on me!

Yesterday evening I put my new Christmas wreath on the front door .... that's it for decorations.
Like Thanksgiving, I will be invited to 3 or 4 places for Christmas but I will choose to stay at home.

Christmas is my favorite holiday and I don't think I will ever stop decorating and doing many traditional things during this season, even if it's ever just for me. I have cut back on the number of decorations I put up since we downsized our home. But the Christmas music plays daily, and I have recorded many Christmas movies from the Hallmark Channel...enough to last me until the 25th!! I continue to make candies and bake, and give it all away. And on a religious note, I enjoy reading the Gospels during the month of December, to keep me grounded.

Oh I am a sucker for the Hallmark movies.
They have been running them for about a month now on the Hallmark channel.
I think every week there is a new one.
I like the Christmas music, there is a station that plays them and when I want a music fix I can listen for a while then return to my regular station.

We don't really decorate much, but always have a tree.  Living out in the country there's usually a cedar that needs to be cut.  We see one for this year that looks about the right size.  It won't be cut until the week before Christmas to keep it from drying out.  We try to do the 12 days of Christmas and try to keep the tree until the 6th of January.

My husband has the lights out and is "designing" the display he plans to put up on our deck in front.  There are just the two of us, but our daughter's family will be visiting and staying with us right after Christmas.  Our son and his family live only about 20 min. away, so we will be visiting them on Christmas Day.  We have a "fake" tree, so it isn't too much work to put it up.  Besides it already has the lights on it.  My collection of nutcrackers will go on the mantel over the fireplace, and we usually put up a few other decorations.
I will do some baking for neighbors and friends.  For two of my closest friends I found plastic brown sugar keepers with a terra cotta disk inside that you soak in water to keep the sugar from drying out.  I will fill them with biscotti as a bonus.
We are still working on gifts for the family.  Since we have 5 grand children, those are the most important, but all are teenagers ( actually, both the boys are now in their 20's). It is a little harder to buy for them.

Love to decorate and bake for Christmas! Just put out the wreath, put up the tree and now dragging all the stuff out of the attic to decorate the rest of the house! Granddaughter is sifting thru the cookie and candy recipes and picking out all her favorites to make!

Hubby is outside, even as I type, putting lights on the tree at the edge of our yard.  He has brought the decorations down from the attic and they are in the garage awaiting my touch.  Son and wife, grandson and granddaughter will join us between Christmas and New Years, as they did last year.  We'll miss oldest daughter, as she is spending her first Christmas in heaven.  While she may not be here with us in SC, it is good to know that she is alive and well elsewhere.

my son and g.s.  and g.n. came after work yesterday and put up all the outside lights
inside stuff is still in the containers but at least in the house    of course  I can't move any of them
I would leave them up year round if I thought I could get away with it
I can listen to the carousel year round and I love it's organ-like sound
