Oooh, way too early to think about Christmas yet! I like to try to get thru mid November before I start dragging out the Christmas decorations - but thank you for the website!!

I'm actually digging out my recipes and buying the ingredients for Christmas baking. In November I will be sending a big care package to my Navy son's former squadron. They got deployed 4 months early, after having just returned home the end of March...bummer for them and their families. My son has a new assignment as an instructor and will be state-side for 2 years, so he'll be home for Christmas for a change. But he asked me to make goodies for his friends who shipped out in August, and I can't refuse that request! So-o-o, yes, I'm thinking of Christmas already!

Look right here for Nestles recipe for TIGER BUTTER ..........
This stuff is so fast and easy and good. It's just incredible.
It's now a standard in my collection of candy.

Verlee, please thank your son for me for his service. My husband and I appreciate our military so much and are very grateful to them. We often attend activities for the Wounded Warriors and Scents for Soldiers.

Nikki, thanks for the heads-up on the northpole site. Heading off today to buy butter at $1.99/lb, the lowest I've seen it in a long time. The only catch is this price is based on the purchase of 10 pounds. Since it can be frozen, that's not a problem. I could end up sharing the purchase with my neighbor so we both benefit.

Nellie -- I thought I was the butter collector but you got me beat - lol. Right now I have only 1 3/4 lb in the fridge and just 4 lb in the freezer.
I just bake cookies and make some candy. What do you do?

Kroger Market. Not sure where you live but Kroger is a well-known name in the South. When I was a kid, I lived in PA but would travel with my family to southern VA to visit my grandparents. Grandma would put on her little navy blue hat with the big white flower on it and we'd walk to Krogers, Piggly Wiggly or curb market. Goodness, that was a very long time ago. Glad to see that both Piggly Wiggly and Krogers have survived all those years!

There are Kroger stores in Wisconsin but not around me in Illinois. We do have a few Piggly Wiggly stores but none real close to me.

I sure do like "discovering" new stores though I make it a point to stop at different ones when I travel. Sad thing is most are part of a conglomerate for lack of a better term. It is getting more difficult to find regional items.

kroger is where i shop most and was going this morning so i looked at the ad again and they didn't have it in gulf coast stores at the store it was 2.99 today

i cook w/ butter in addition to baking
also i seem to be the 'store' when family and friends run out of things

okay bakery,
today's kroger ad had land o' lakes butter for 1.99 also had campbell's cream of chicken or mushroom soup for 50 cents and swanson's broth for 50 cents i haven't finished reading the ad but since i needed to spend $36 to make my month even on gas points i have figuered out that when i pick my g.s. up from school i'm going to pick up 24 cans of soup 10 lbs butter and 6 cans broth to even the numbers to 40 and a box of sweet'n low that i need to even the money
then i can go back next week before the sale ends and buy more to go on next month's points
