Remember someone has to say something to keep the news going. Last week the World was coming to an end. Next week who knows. If they"The Great Know it alls"  drop the  price gas, food etc than that will be News.

It's all over the news now! I only use my cell phone when we go camping and when I'm in MI.  I carry it in
my purse in case I need it! It's against the law to use a cell phone while driving in CA, but I see people
doing it all the time!!

I keep my cell phone with me more now because I need for my Dad to be able to contact me easily.  But I don't use it a lot otherwise.

Some people use their cell phones constantly, almost as if they can't handle silence. I think they are good things and can save lives but really, do you need to take it everywhere.......

I find it annoying and rude of those who are constantly chatting away while driving, eating, grocery shopping, etc. The biggest problem I had with cell phone use was when I worked at the community college and women would be in the bathroom chatting away while others were trying to have a little privacy...really! Maybe now they'll cut back on the chatting.

I did see that Nancy, thanks for the link.  Wonder if they also did a study on those "bluetooth" things that people have in their ears.  I imagine that might be even worse to have that on your head the whole day.

Verlee, I agree that it's annoying and rude when someone is constantly on the cell phone.  Although I now have a cell phone I never use it while driving and certainly not at the store, bank, etc.  I don't think anyone wants to hear my private conversations any more than I want to hear theirs.  Getting off the soapbox now LOL.

I do not see the use in getting upset about these preliminary and vague findings.  I think the jury is still out on the the final word.  I rarely use my cell phone, but I do get upset about all the teenagers and others that seem to have the phones growing out of their ears.  Is something that important that it cannot wait?

I do not have a cell phone, I was given one a few years ago & refused to use it.  If anyone wants to call me, use the land line, if I am gone, leave a message.  When I leave the house to do something, I do not want to be tied to a phone ( heck, at my age, if I wanted to keep something with me 24/7, it would be the bathroom Sealed). There is a time & place for using a phone & it is not at the check out in a store holding up the people in line behind you because you can not chat & write a check at the same time, or at a sit down restaurant where the tables near you can hear your one sided conversation when they are paying for a nice evening out or (I wish the lady who was at the stop light last week facing me could read this) when driving & talking , one is so into  the conversation, their mind is not on driving & they run the red light, when the turn light goes green & their light is still red (I bet all the horns blowing woke her up). I sure was glad there was not an accident.
Most of our relatives & people we know have a cell phone, but  I am still a hold out.

LOL LOL LOL
-- Fran thanks for a morning laugh.

I want my cell!!  I carry it with me hoping I don't need to use it.  I've carried one for two years and I've used it twice -- once to call AAA for help and another for a small emergency.  I've never once heard it ring.....
I carry mine because I worry about being alone in my truck, needing help.

What happened to the time where you didn't get a phone call unless you were at home? With call waiting etc. we seem to never have time to sit and contemplate or read a good book anymore.

Oh, Mary, I thought I was the last living person to NOT have a cell phone.  I don't feel like I need one.  If someone wants to call me and I'm not home I have an answering machine.

I heard Dr. Dean Edell on the radio this morning talking about this report, and He didn't think much of it.  His reasoning was because there are millions more people using cell phones, why haven't the cases of brain cancer increased?   His answer--they haven't!!  I have had a cell phone for a long time.  I don't use it very often, but it is good in an emergency.  I occasionally use it to text.....I do not text while driving, nor do I answer the phoned while driving!

I don't see how a person could possibly text while driving.  One needs both hands to text (I guess, as I have no personal experience) and one should use both hands driving.  top that off with having to look at what you're texting instead of looking at what's in front on you while driving is very scary.
