High of 36 today but we're supposed to get a mix of sleet, snow and rain by tomorrow morning.  Oh goody, just in time for a trip to the doctor's office.  I am so hoping the weatherman is wrong!

GRANA here;
today; Friday
 5:09PM 19'
 wind NE 9mph.low 9'high
24' We were warned of a Terrible blizzard due today ;worse  than that of 1978 When we were  newly settled  in SouthernCalifornia &  only knew of that storm from news reportsSurprisedwhich lways include he
  line"R UN FOR THE STORES"
TODAY HUBBY WAS DELIGHTED w// MY WELL STOCKED LARDER: LOTS OF SOUP, CANNED MILK; FRUITS([ FROZEN & DRIED]
  dry pasta beans & rice(s)  coffee, cocoa & asst.  teas RICE; canned tomateo for sauce ; lots of baloney& & cheese for hubby, frozen fish  &  veggies for me.

As long as we have our utilities we'll eat well(we can both cook edible food
Wink
Hubby  went out for his 5 mile walk at0800 hrs & rturned to a mug of hot tea & choices of breakfast pastriesSurprised i was concerned he would slip& fall& re-injure his back& prepared welcomee home treat to help myself believe he would be right t back home  & OK the nearestrocery store opnsns @0700hrs & hubby didn'thave to go in for milk  , bread & cookies like somany of our neighbor Ithink he has a new respect fomycompulsion to keep mergency supplies on hand; our neghbors  were slipping& sliding on the way to
&  from going
  desparation
  shoping for hings to fill their  bellies.Those neighbor who are sociable & neighborly  know that I have supplies to share if need be but have yet ask for things other than  milk, eggs  butter &  mollases  & sugar   to bake  bake cookies or cake OR ez simple mealsThey get recipes too..... when hubby went to the hospital(emergencies)a few neighbors shopped  for me so the cats & I could eat  I gladly repay them during storms..I do fear the beligerant drunk upstirs who carries a gun.In time of emergency he's the type  who would force the giving of what he wants  w/o concern  for where that would leave us.Hubby has a 22just in case but I don't think he could easily  use it  I don't think he drunk  would kill uUndecided he would need us to cook; neither h'e nor is nice wife  know how to cook; they both work fulltime  & get most if not all  l their meals from takeout Smile

GRANA  here;
 SATURDAY: The blizzard expected yesterday showed up overnight .Our now removal contractor did a good job despite all the people living here w/ 3 cars...[hey keep one in their garage ( following the rules so they couldn't be towed The plows just piled  all the snow up against those  cars  Hubby sat inside  watching the owners shovel out their cars Laughing
Why do 2 people need 2 cars& a truck? They also have a motor home parked off site
WE live right on a bus route & less than 1/4 mile from a shopping center w/ grocery store.Those poor fools were so unhappy  out in the cold shoveling out their own carsFrown
,One couplle hired red a pro shoveler to clear their car out  Money mouth

GRANA here;
 On Thursday March 7th We were expeting 5"-10" of snow 7  encouraged by 55' temps that next Monday
 We got 4" ofsnow & on Monday it was 51' & rained alay.
We spent theday at the shoe harehoouse getting  $90 shoes fr each of us for about  $120  for s both I got  casual black leather hoes( modified MARY JANES  by NATURALIZER t he got   NB cross trainers( black leather  for his daily 5 mile walk daily walks,He got aEEEE usually ; hard to find , To celebrate the hugesavings( $60 & fining our sizes for springime we ate lunch at our fave STEAKHOUSE;  getting 2 lovely elymeals ( fried shrimp housesalad& baked potto for him&  grilled chicken breastw/ grilled veggies(  zuke & ummersquash , carrots, broccoli&  snow pea pods for me . He had lemonade& I hadhottea; all for around $20 We could have had FREE  fried  calamari but thought better of it  even w/ it( a new menu item) being offered FREE ) since we had so much  else  coming   we always leave room for their honey wheat bread( hot & crusty  from the oven, served w/ real butter
..Our server  a sweet young girl was so excellent that hubby  felt  obligated to  tip her $6 &  praise her to the hostess who knows we complain Yellpolitely  when service falls short.This rarely happns which is why hubby tipped a littlehigher than our usual 20% for the excellent service tht made the good food into a very pleasureable  meal we both  really enjoyed.
