I headed out to church while ago and there was a fine mist in the air.  I picked up my friend.  The streets were ..........
I talk too much.
It is just a miserable, bitter night with unbelievable ice.  I've never seen anything like this 'black ice' in my life.  Hideous trip trying to get home  --
I thank God that I made it.  There were so so many wrecks on the highway - so scary - so difficult.
And Interstate 44 near here has been closed.  I've never heard of an Interstate in Missouri being closed because of weather.

That happens here in Cleveland every once in awhile and sometimes we even have snow bans and you can't drive, only if it's an emergency and no parking on the streets either .Once I was on my way to work,I was on the interstate and several cars in front of me were spinning out and hitting the concrete walls.I believe that my guardian angel was with me, that's heart stopping scary. We have family in Nixa Mo.do you know where that is?

Nixa is far, far away from here ... I'm in east central MO - just a bit west of St. Louis.  Nixa is in SW MO.  I know a dear couple there ... nice people I met years ago in North Dakota.
In North Dakota when the weather got very bad enormous gates (that were under overpasses) were just SHUT.  When they said it was too dangerous to drive - they shut the highways.

Nancy, you don't talk too much!! But yes, icy here in New York, too. Not just the roadways either. I landed on my hip yesterday on the ice walking down a long driveway! Ouch!! Lame today!!! Was slippery under the snow and I didn't see it coming!!

I just got home from a little trip to WalMart -- got that needed parafin - and it was an easy trip.  Thank goodness.
We're supposed to get more nastiness Saturday night/Sunday morning.   Oh, I hope not.
Sunday night is our church Christmas program and that's when I plan/hope to deliver all the piles of cookies and candy I've prepared.

Nancy, You really are not very far from me.  I am in Illinois, northwest suburbs of Chicago.  I have been telling my grandson about Lambert's Cafe and the "throwed rolls" now he wants to go.  Have a sister in law in Little Rock.  We get down to Tunica Mississippi every year for a few days.  My next trip down I want to stop at a BBQ place near St Louis.  I think it is called 17th St Cafe or something like that if I have the name wrong I will post the correct name.
But you are correct it is bitterly cold and the driving and walking can be treacherous.

Ok I checked and the name of the place is 17Th Street Bar and Grill.  Locations in Murphrysboro, O'Fallon, Sparta and Marion.  probably all a bit far for you.

Nikki - I used ~sigh~ to sell my woodcarvings at a gallery in Evanston.  I was there every Nov. and most Julys.  Oh, my goodness, that was a good time.
I don't know  any restaurants in St. Louis
~another sigh~ I just never had the opportunity.  Back and forth to St. Louis' Barnes Hospital but no restaurants.  lol
Let me know when you're making the trip next year .... there's always the possibility we could meet.  Smile
While agoo I made a trip to WalMart and everything was dry and easy ... no ice on the roads.  Whew

And because I live in a little condo everything outside gets taken care of ..... I had no snow to shovel but they came to spread 'salt' on the driveway and sidewalks.   And I missed those guys .... I always take them hot coffee and ..... you guessed it .... cookies !!

Evanston is great, very "eclectic" city.
There is a maker of one of the best, no make that the best salami that I have had in the St. Louis area.  Look for Volpi Salami.  I am sure it is found in many grocery stores in the area.  A sandwich made with the Genoa salami, Provolone Cheese some roasted red peppers on a crusty French or Italian bread just can't be beat.  A little giardiniera adds a little spice to the sandwich.
By the way I am sure the guys will be around again to make sure YOUR area is kept clear!  They know a good thing.
