Garland ...... lol........ I made that cardboard,  7' tall, flat  Christmas tree for the play at church Sunday night.   It needed garland so I bought 3 shiny gold ones at Walmart.  The tree took only one so I carried the extra two home.  The cats attacked.  They grabbed the garland, rolled in it, ripped it apart - they had a ball.  The entire place is littered with tiny gold garbage.
I'll never buy another.

We didn't believe in Santa either. The four of us girls would each get one
present and then we would get a game together. We were always happy
with our presents. We always had a real Christmas tree too. Mom always
made popcorn and we would string it and put it on the tree instead of
garland. We also put homemade popcorn balls on the tree. Those were
the good old days!!

Nancy, I can't stop laughing about your two cats. I don't put up our two
little trees anymore because the two youngest cats kept tipping them
over last year. I don't even want to try. lol lol Got to love those cats!!!

Nancy, thanks for the laugh.  I can just picture the cats playing.  You might want to get more after Christmas.  It might be the most inexpensive cat toy you will ever find.

Next door is a super nice young woman who is supeintendant of the special schools in this area.  Their Christmas party was yesterday and she took a big batch of my cookies to serve and to send home with each special needs kid.
Each year she brings a nice gift to my house -- not a pretty scarf or such -- it's a giant stocking of cat toys!! LOL

 Oh yes! I remember the saved paper! I was almost afraid to open the presents because if it got ripped then I got "that look!" and the bows and the ribbons and any snips of ribbon left i got to make into pony tails for my dolls. I have to admit that it was kind of comforting to see the paper & tags year after year. I think that it added a sort of continuance to life. i saved all the tags I could find and have them in a box put away.

I agree Judy -- there were always "special" sheets of paper - the prettiest - the ones you could hope for next year.

Special gifts?  One year my special gift was Horsey - a stuffed yellow horse with black mane and tail.  I don't know my age then but I wasn't in school yet.  I carried Horsey 24 hours a day for several years.

Why does Christmas make me cry so much?  I WANT HORSEY
