I saw a bit of this on the news the other day and missed most of it.  I am glad you posted this.
Very true.

I read one of the comments that someone had written that this should be done for kids in school.  Girls and boys often have such a distorted view of themselves  I think something like this would be a good experience for them.  I think the same day on the news there was a bit about Senior Photos and some of the kids are getting professional photos done with props, make up, changes of clothes.  What is wrong with looking like a 16, 17, 18 year old that some of these kids, or rather the parents are paying big $$$ to have these photos done.

This is very true.
However I think what we feel about ourselves projects. That can make a difference as to how other people perceive us.
If we greet the world every morning with a smile people will smile back this is the start of a good day.  On the other hand if you do not smile, or feel unattractive, will not smile at you, greet you and your day will continue on a downward spiral. All this can make a difference.
One day just try walking through a store or on a walking path say good morning to people, smile it is amazing after doing that for a few minutes you begin to feel better.
So yes it is important what is on the inside but what we project can be just as important.

By the way if you really want to put a smile on someone's face...walk up to someone and compliment them about something, their coat, their blouse, anything.  I have done this and it is amazing the genuine smile that I get, as well as a very surprised look.  I guarantee you will make someone's day.

I start EVERY day with a smile--and--when I am out shopping or just walking in the neighborhood, I say "Good Morning" to everyone I see.  Try it, you will be surprised at their reaction.  A lot of them look at me as though I am crazy.  I just smile and keep on going.  A lot of them say "Good Morning to you, also".  That really puts a bigger smile on my face.  Nikki made a comment about just walking up to someone and complimenting them.....this happens to me all of the time.  I have snow white hair (natural) and a VERY GOOD hairdresser.  I am often tapped on my shoulder and complimented on the color and cut of my hair.  Some women even ask me "Who does your hair and at what salon"?  At first, I was taken aback; but now I can accept their comments without blushing or being startled.

I bet the compliments make your day right?
It is so easy to say something nice and it takes no time at all.

The best response to a compliment....Thank You!   Just remember you deserve the compliment.  So many of us believe that we are not worthy of a compliment or that it shows vanity to accept a compliment with grace.  It shows good manners to accept with grace.

I volunteer at our local Food Pantry, and make a point of complimenting or saying something positive to each client as they arrive. A few have broken down in tears because they've had a hard day or week, and this little gesture helps brighten their day. I try to follow the Golden Rule all the time.
