I was just outside after a run.The leaves are falling all over the place. It is rather nice.I think we are all so busy we forget to notice. As a kid I also had to rake the leaves , I made a huge pile and jumped into them.Or i threw my friends into them.Ah , to be a kid again.

Yes Julie it is nice someone else does the yard work and I get to enjoy God's work. It sure is beautiful. I was born and raised in the Canal Zone in Panama and it was years before I saw any reasons changing. We had two...........rainy and dry season. Nine months of rain three months of dry season.

I love fall - it is by far my favourite season...I live very close to a small nature preserve and love to walk the trails there and enjoy the crisp air and the wonderful colors.  Alas, this year after my spinal surgery, I am stuck using a walker or a wheelchair, neither one of which permits me to walk on bumpy. uneven, rocky ground.  Hopefully next year...!

[QUOTE]YES , WE HAVE SOME FAMILY AND FRIENDS DOWN THERE. THEY HAVE ALL SAID THE SAME THING...THEY DO NOT MISS THE SNOW.
Posted by Julie B[/QUOTE

Julie, the thing is my friend who recently moved to Florida not only misses our beautiful New York fall leaves. She said she is also going to miss the snow! Even though I get tired of the snow after awhile, when the winter seems to linger on and on, I think I would probably miss the snow as well. Speaking of which.....we had snow flurries yesterday! They stuck on a little but didn't last long. The snow wasn't as bad as the bitter 30 degree cold weather though!
Happy Fall, Everyone!! Enjoy what's left of it while it lasts! Most of our trees are now bare of their leaves, though a few are still quite heavily "clothed" in leaves. We have a beautiful bright orange colored tree down at the back of our lawn. It really stands out now with everything around it so bare!

Erica, Sounds like you live in a lovely area. I pray you have a quick recovery from your surgery and that next year you will be able to once again enjoy walking to enjoy the lovely fall leaves. God bless!

I love the fall season, all the beautiful colors. I was born and raised in the Canal Zone in Panama and we had two  seasons, rainy and dry. Rainy for nine months dry for three months. When we were in Germany we had many beautiful fall seasons. But moved back to Florida and no more so am happy to be here in Danville Va and see the change. Yep Julie no moving no raking just enjoy the scenery from my windows.

Carol, thank you for your kind words and wishes!  All I can do right now is keep going to PT and set my sights forward.  We do indeed live in a lovely area - woods and trees all around, and yet close enough to college town Oshkosh to enjoy life there too!  Blessings back to you...

Our liquidambers are just starting to turn here in the S.F. Bay area of Calif.  My husband and I went up to our Condo at Lake Tahoe a couple of weeks ago, and there the Aspen trees are beautiful.  Things are getting more colorful in Plumas county, which is just north of Tahoe.  As for cleaning up we get the leaf blower going....noisier than raking, but a lot faster.

Erica- take care of yourself............. I have no experience but I'm certain that any spinal surgery is difficult.  I've added you to my prayers.

Sadly :( here in Southern Calf. we don't really have seasons, or the changes in seasons like the Midwest or eastern states.  I'm originally from Northwest Ohio and Autumn/Fall is the time of year I miss the most.  My friend in Michigan has a little girl who sends me "Fall colours from Michigan" every year (leaves from their trees pressed between 2 sheets of waxed paper.) They go right up on window or refrigerator as soon as they arrive.  A little piece of home.  Thanks for the memories everyone!  Happy Halloween

Here in NJ where I live, the leaves have not changed color yet.  Look forward to seeing them change.

I was talking to my friend about the leaves. she has a huge yard, tons of trees. she has this party she has for halloween. one of the games she ropes off rows ,makes up teams. she has rows of leaf bags at the far end.their are 5-6 teams of 10-12 kids/ adults.they run down their row picking up leaves.she said they give out prizes, and a trophy for the cleanest, most filled bags. the winning team is defending it's title 4 yrs. now. she and the others have a great time.her yard is clean by the end.they have a huge party, food, games and tons of fund. she said the party cost less than it would take to hire someone. smart thinking

Awww!! Autumn is so nice and your description allowed me to see it in my mind's eye.  Colors are quite happening here, yet.  Just a tad here & there.  Being in a drought is causing alot of the leaves to just turn brown and are blowing off before turning.  Some are just brittle green & they're dropping too.  Maybe next year will be better!
