I have read that the sound of summer is coming to our state. They say that the largest broods of Cicadas is expected to hatch in the coming weeks after 17 years and it won't be long before their distinct chirp inundates the state.  They emerge from the ground when the soil temperature at about eight inches below the ground reaches a steady 64 degrees.  Within hours of appearing they go through a metamaphoris and are transformed from a flightless slow moving nymph into a large flying insect.  When they do appear they will be hard to miss.  A cicada's mating call is loud and distinct.  Cicadas are large and can overwhelm large areas.  Many of us are not looking forward to them.  Do you get them in your state?  If you do, what are your feelings about them?  Do you do anything special to not let them bother you?
