Hi Julie -- I went to the local animal clinic and asked for the two kittens who needed help the most - two that maybe no one else would take. I was taken to the back room to see a really miserable batch of "barn cats" ... born in a barn and not exposed to humans, badly riddled with ear mites and fleas. I fell in love with two and carried them home.
I was expecting two terror stricken, very shy, very sad little kittens. When I opened their crate, they both jumped out and, tails up, started inspecting this place. I picked them up and showed them new litter box and let them keep inspecting which they did with no fear - just joy. Great joy.
I went to my bed to nap while they looked around and both of them were curled up, asleep, on my chest within 60 seconds.
I had not named them yet but Badcat was a total, dangerous, pushy, fearless little monster. I kept screaming, "No, bad cat!! Bad cat!! No!! Bad cat!!" until it stuck.
Peaches got her name because she's such a sweet little thing.
