ALDI'S IS COMING TO TEXAS!!!

with a BIG BANG !!

on april 11    aldi's is opening 11 stores in the metro-houston area and 30 more with-in two years

and guess what?       one of them is going in in our old wal-mart building     that is just 7 mi from me   and just this side of the new wal-mart store         when i went to look to se if it was where i thought they were putting up the sign

i know that some of you shop there   and would like to know what you actually shop for, basically
do they have the handicapped shopping carts?         if they don't  i know i need to be careful  to know what i'm going for

I'm pretty sure they are all about the same....maybe lay out could be different; but I think the operation is probably true in all the stores.  We have just recently started to do some shopping in our Aldi's.  I have not seen a handicap cart, so not sure if they have them.  They do not carry "name brands"; but I find that the produce is very good, the snacks have found their way into my cart along with a few frozen meals and/or entrees.  Every week, they usually have a couple of items for the home....we did purchase a three sectioned laundry cart.  Now, the hubby can sort his own laundry (training took some time, however).  Here's hoping they will have handicap carts for your store so you can enjoy shopping there!

No handicapped carts. A quarter for the shopping cart which you are refunded after shopping. Carry your own bags. They do not accept coupons, checks or credit cards.

Hi Nellie they do not have wheelchair's there.I always take mine.I push myself and my son gets what I tell him to get.Their produce is a good buy the eggs,milk and dairy products are good.I buy their little beef fillets wrapped in bacon we really enjoy those.They will refund your money on anything that you don't like.The prices are great there.A case of spring water there is anywhere from $2 to $4 cheaper than other stores.For staple items I don't think you can beat the prices.There was one thing that I returned and it was their chorizo.I think they gave me double the amout paid.

Aldi's is great for just about everything unless you want a "brand name" although sometimes they even have those.  I think they're starting to carry a lot more than they used to since more people are shopping there.  If you forget to bring your own bags they do sell shopping bags too since you bag your own groceries.

What Nellie said.  Their produce is usually quite cheap.  I got avocados for 29¢ each once and oranges are $1.29 for a 4# bag this week. Their stuff isn't name brand but who cares?  They do sell a lot of other stuff besides food.  We got an electric  tea kettle for only $10 several years ago and love it. 
If you don't bring your own bags there's usually boxes around that you can use. I think they still have paper bags you can buy for 4¢ if you don't bring your own.  That was quite a while ago but I always bring my own cloth bags to all stores so haven't paid attention.

I have not seen handicap carts.
You do need a quarter to get a cart then when it is returned you get the quarter back.
It might be worth emailling the company and ask if they have ever thought of getting them. I just might do the same thing.....

When you go in the first time get a few items and try them out.
All the items are guaranteed so if you do not like it they will not only refund your money but replace the product.
I have been getting milk there, less there than Costo, Sam's or the sale prices at the other stores.

Go on line and sign up for their emails and you will get a "sale" flier with the items that they are featuring that week.

Aldi's is owned by the same company that owns Trader Joe's so I am guessing all the private label items at Aldi's are pretty much the same as teh private lable items at Trader Joe's.
They do carry name brand items but according to an article I read they will only do that until they can find a manufacturer that will make a product to the same standards.

Congratulations on becoming an Aldi's shopper.

Just remember...
Cash, or debit cards. (although I think they may take checks.) They do take Food stamps, WIC or other supplement programs as well.
Bring your own bags or take a box from the store.  They do sell paper and plastic bags.

I've only been to Aldi's once - didn't care for it, really dirty and messy! BUT there is a new one close to our house now that I might try.

I think if the store is dirty that is more management than a reflection on Aldi stores.  I also have been to one or two that seem a bit dirty but that is quickly changing. 
I think if you find a store that is dirty either email the company or ask to talk to a manager.  Same as I would do in any store.

I have only seen "regular" carts at Aldi's.  I like to go there when I get a chance.  Fruit, vegetables and milk are cheaper there.  I also buy staples like flour and sugar there.  I buy some snacks there as well.  I  haven't found anything that I didn't like so far.

They are a great store!  My daughter lives in Athens, Al and they have one nearby.  It is a fun place to shop.

Aldi's is also a great place if you are donating to a food bank.  I get a lot more "bang for my buck" when I bring a bag of items to a donation site. 
I will get a selection of items to make full meals. Flour, sugar, a bag of beans a bag of rice a box of pasta and a jar of sauce.  And as my Grandson has told me everyone likes a treat so I include a box cake mix or brownie mix. 
By the way the ice cream topping, the Caramel and the fudge are outstanding and they are classified as "seasonal" so in the fall they discontinue so I stock up because the caramel is great for an apple cake, apple pie or a crisp, Oatmeal Carmelita Bars, drizzling over brownies I could go on and on. The fudge is great when heated and drizzled over a bundt cake. 
Now if I can figure out why they consider the toppings as seasonal, like who doesn't eat ice cream in the winter?

well,  today's the day        and I have low a tire I have to get fixed first             we've had a big thunderstorm all night and over 2 1/2 in rain      so far      it's supposed to clear up pretty soon     but I have some water standing on the driveway
they have had several interviews with local tv        and say they have added 140-150 stock items in order to compete w/ stores like  fiesta        in their texas stores

I may not get there today  but  I will soon  ( definitely not weekends  unless I get out early)
