I think if children are taught how to be safe in the kitchen from a young age and encouraged to help they become safe cooks in the future.
Teaching a child to cut with a sharp knife in a safe manner does more for their self confidence than you could imagine. More accidents happen with a dull knife than a sharp one.
Learning "respect" for the kitchen,a caution for the stove, and a safe way to properly use the tools of the kitchen is important.
Children that help in the kitchen by planning a menu, shopping and then preparing the food learn to eat better learn healthy food habits and learn valuable lessons that will help them throughout their lives.
I love cooking and baking with my grandson. As he gets older he wants to do more.
