I think if children are taught how to be safe in the kitchen from a young age and encouraged to help they become safe cooks in the future.Teaching a child to cut with a sharp knife in a safe manner does more for their self confidence than you could imagine. More accidents happen with a dull knife than a sharp one. Learning "respect" for the kitchen,a caution for the stove, and a safe way to properly use the tools of the kitchen is important.Children that help in the kitchen by planning a menu, shopping and then preparing the food learn to eat better learn healthy food habits and learn valuable lessons that will help them throughout their lives.I love cooking and baking with my grandson. As he gets older he wants to do more.
