English Muffin Pizza

There are not many kids that don't like pizza,Here is a way that they can make there own,split english muffins in half,put on pizza sauce and cheese,pepperoni,sausage what ever they like and bake in a

English Muffin Pizza

There are not many kids that don't like pizza,Here is a way that they can make there own,split english muffins in half,put on pizza sauce and cheese,pepperoni,sausage what ever they like and bake in a 400* oven until done to your liking.My mom made these for us when we were kids,they are fast and easy.I sometimes use pita bread for the pizza crust, way less calories and carbs.

GALE;My BEST FRIEND,JOANNE & I  used to eat lunch together after high school each day.( classs from  7:30 TO 12: 30.We were prettyhungry by  the timewe walked home3-1/2 miles.
Wemade ENGLISH MUFFIN PIZZAS; I still do today; QUICK, EASY & FUN TO TOP AS YOU DESIRE FROM     THE PZZA BAR  like a salad bar of pizza toppings: sauce;
 cheese(s), veggie dice/strips; pepperoni, cooked sausage, or chicken breast shreds .

My daughter makes these on a regular basis for her kids, and a couple that she baby sits on a regular basis.  The kids all look forward to this great snack after school.  The kids all have activities afterschool (soccer, ballet, etc) so they all need an extra boost of energy.   Glad you brought this up as a great reminder to other bakers/ moms/ grandmas.

Oh Cheri,that's sweet,I know the pizzas were good.My mom had to come up with things because my brother never wanted to eat,he was very picky.

I use to make these on sourdough muffins for the kids when they were here, I even cut the muffins in 5 pieces to make them look like pizza slices.

I have some great memories of making english muffin pizzas!  We have passed this tradition on to our grandson who loves to make his own special pizza.  I like the idea from Fran M on slicing them up to look like mini pizza slices!  How fun!

I've made ketchup pizza using toasted English muffins or bread and grated cheese.  Then I just put them under the broiler for 5-10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly.  I'll have to try using pita bread.  I also have heard of using Naan bread for a pizza base.

I don't know that it was English Muffin Pizza, but this reminded me of how my mother would make a kind of sloppy joe - brown ground beef and add the ingredients that she used for barbacue sauce (ketchup, brown sugar, lemon juice, and other seasonings), put that on top of toasted English muffin halves, top with cheese, and broil it to melt the cheese.  We didn't have the variety of breads that we do now, so pita bread and naan would be great ideas.

These are our party staple including New Year's Eve & Superbowl Sunday.  With much food, I make cheese only, without topping.  They're usually devoured before I can put the serving tray down.  During Lent, this is a Friday meal with a salad for us...it's one Friday the boys don't complain about No Meat Friday

I've found it is safer for the kids to use the toaster oven too.

The same can be done with pita bread. A bit larger so slices can be cut but it is also thinner so it cooks faster.

Hi BARBARA B & OTHERS ;
We make them ( ENGLISH MUFFIN PIZZAS)several times a week, serve w/  a salad or /veggie soup.I buy  WHOLE GRAIN or LOW CARB( high fiber)  English muffins(several  brands available, here)
Still makes a pretty good easy pizza; much better nutritional profile;
still fast & easy to makeSmile
 When we have pasta & sauce,I "squirel" away [HUBBY'S TERM) 1/2 cup of sauce, before serving(no one knows, but me) freeze in (zip top  snack bags) & always  have pizza sauce for these "INSTANT PIZZAS", on hand [ mico-thaw pretty fast in a custard cup]

We used to make these when we were kids!  Seems like make-your-own mini pizzas (no matter what you use for crust) are a hit, no matter what the age group!
