GRANA here;

When I was a pre-schooler;my Mom & I moved in w/my grandmother's "spinster"sister.
She allowed meto"help" her in thek itchen.  I cleanded &  shelled fresh peas;set the table & did other' helpfull'projects for her.It gave me a lot ofself confidence & the time spent together was very pleasant. I learned (by watching he); rhow to peel potartoes,shred carrots; make gelatin desserts 7lemonadeIttaughtmepatiencew/msel7others & that not being highly skilled does not make you useless; you can still do " something' to help others.Cool

My son loves to pick out the chocolate chips and hide them as we bake cookies!

My Mom taught both my sister and me as well as my 2 brothers all we wanted to know about basic cooking.
She was not in the kitchen for fun.  But she felt that everyone should know how to cook a simple meal.  One
of her favorite sayings was "If you can read, you can cook".  Of course, once you know the basics, then you
can be adventurous.

Cooked with my sons at a very young age.  Learned to cook with my grandmother and my mother doing cooking and canning.

I wished I had spent more time in the kitchen with my mom and dad. They both were great cooks and even had a restaurant for 10 years. I was just too young to realize that life is too short. I always thought I would have the time to learn. Unfortunately both passed suddenly.
