Happy New Years Day everyone!

Sorry to hear that Sharon.  When I was single I would celebrate Valentines Day as a "me" day.  Treat yourself to a meal or snack out, do a little window shopping and maybe buy yourself something that you've been wanting.  A manicure or even a pedicure is always a pick-me-up.  Heck, even a long bubble bath is sometimes a treat and doesn't cost much money.  However you spend it, remember God loves us all and that makes us all very special!

Will be staying at home. I will cook something special for my husband.  He has MS.  We have been married for 45 years.  This April, in fact on Easter Sunday this year, we will be married 46 years!  It went by so quickly!!!

Happy Valentine's Day .... went to Walmart this afternoon and it had loads of Valentine stuff - especially candy.    All the leftover Christmas items were 75% off.  lol lol lol -- I bought so many boxes of Bob's candy canes (GREAT candy canes) I could barely push my cart - lol lol lol

Oh my gosh, it has been a very long time since I drooled Tongue outover a recipe, PLEASE post yours for the cake.

In Response to Re: Valentine's Day:
I plan on making a 6" square cake and a 6" round cake.  Cut the round cake in half and put on either side of the square making a heart cake.  I think I will make chocolate armaretto cake with cannoli filling and chocolate fudge icing.  Hey he gets the cannoli filling, because I LOVE CHOCOLATE...LOL

Fran -- maybe 35 years ago I made cream puffs and filled them with ice cream and strawberries or with ice cream, chocolate syrup and pecans.
I guess I've made 100 cream puffs and never once did I make the traditional cream filling.

I will be volunteering in the art room at my kids' school and helping them with a valentines project.  I'm not sure what I will be doing after that.

Hi debbie -- I'm the volunteer "art" teacher with Sunday evening classes at church..... usually 8 children.  Last Sunday there were 10.
They run in age from 4 to 11 --- what a spread!
I would REALLY appreciate any suggestions or learning what you all make.  Please!!

The week before is our wedding anniversary so we celebrate both.  I'm on vacation week of Anniversay which leads into Valentine's day so I bake something special for both days & Valentine's day is 3 baking jobs:  1 for my husband, 1 for the boys which is a thinking process because I try not to make them chocolate so the dogs can partake too!  Night of Anniversary is definitely a me & him ONLY dinner out (an extreme rarity).  One year we couldn't afford it so we had a planned out supper & dismissed the boys to their room or their friends out of the house.  We then took over the living room (no dogs at the time), popped in a movie, good snack & were a happy duo.  The year after that was a blizzard & my son blamed my aura for tossing them out the year before.  It was fine though because as we were couped up, I baked, broke out the cards, candles & board games - it was a very nice time had by all even if our teenagers don't admit it

Nancy...

I make a Cream Puff Cake that tastes just like the cream puffs from years ago!  Actually it's one of my hubbys favorite cakes.
