ONE WEEKEND IN NOVEMBER I START TO MAKE DOUGHS FOR COOKIES. THE ONES I CAN FREEZE. I PUT THEM IN FREEZER ZIP- LOCK BAGS. SOMETIMES EVEN DOUBLE THE BAGS.I LABEL WITH TYPE,DATE AND BAKING INSTRUCTIONS..I ALSO START MY FUDGE, CANDY AND PIES. THIS SAVES ME SO MUCH TIME. I EVEN MAKE SOME SIDES THAT CAN FREEZE WELL.THIS IS DONE ON ANOTHER WEEKEND.I HAVE TWO F MY KIDS HELPING. CHOPPING,ANY ODD JOBS.WE TRY TO ADD A NEW COOKIE WE'VE TESTED, EVN CHANGING THINGS UP A BIT.
IT SAVES TIME, LESS MESS WHEN YOU GO TO BAKE.....HAPPY BAKING TO ALL....I CAN NOT WAIT TO START.....I NEED TO ALSO GO TO THE DOLLAR STORE FOR TINS AND JARS...THEY MAKE GREAT, CHEAP WAYS TO GET THEM READY AS GIFTS...WHAT DO YOU DO TO GET AHEAD?...ALWAYS LOOKING FOR IDEAS...

I'm starting to stock-up on cookies for Thanksgiving. Just like Julie I freeze them in zip-lock freezer bags with as little air as possible. Last night after church I took my new Nestles chocolate morsel coupons to Wal-Mart ... they're in the freezer too.

Isn't it funny that I live alone but have to have a big deep freezer for my cookie supplies and the finished cookies?

What do you do with all your cookies you bake? Do you give them as gifts?
So you can freeze the chocolate chips? Cool.well have fun,I wish I were more of a baker.I was thinking at school to have the home ec. classes make up cookies we can give to the senior homes or other places that could use them.Also include the art department or other classes to make holiday cards.

Hi Preston ... Yes, I freeze chocodlate chips - all colors/flavors and I've never had a bit of trouble or any change of taste I can notice. I am comfortable freezing the finished cookies.

I give all my cookies away. Every child in my church gets a 9x13 alumn. cake pan full of cookies for their birthday. Anyody who does special work for the church gets cookies. Anyone who seems to be having any problems gets cookies. Missionaries passing through get cookies. Kids in Bible college or the military get cookies mailed to them.
For every church dinner - I take cookies - lots of cookies as a dessert - lol. Every family at the dinner (that wants them!) gets a bag of cookies to take home.
I have very fun breakfasts with a great little group of people and they do my "taste test" and give opinions and suggestions -- and carry bags home.
Cookies to the senior homes sounds great - very kind and special. Just be certain to check with the desk about sugar problems like diabetes.

you are a sweetheart. God Bless you for all your kindness. i do the same thing. plus i love the smell of them baking. all the chocolate, cinnamon, ginger.....yummy..... your a doll. you remind me of my 3rd. grade teacher. we were pen-pals until i got married, she died many years ago. she always came to see me in the summer. she lived in florida, came to maine for the summer.she was a wonderful, caring sweet person, much like you. i still have all the letters....she was a pen-pal to hundreds of people...she is dearly missed by many people.

All my delicate rolled butter cookies that take the longest to make I roll cut and bake then layer in a container with waxed paper for the freezer ahead of time. That way I only spend one day sitting there icing and decorating all of them!!

hi nancy,
no, i never froze any of my fudge. not sure if i can. after i make it i triple wrap and put in the fridge in a plastic container.my old home ec teacher told use to wrap a clean dish cloth around it after you wrap it up. i had a hidden container in the fridge. i made last nov., found ijan. ( i knew it was there).my stash.it was still good this is the penuche fudge.

i googled it for you. i found a site thatsmyhome.com/fudge.
there are tons of recipes , all types.raspberry, all sorts. i figured i would let you know. i 'am going back to check it out. i saw a christmas fudge, this fudge is loaded with tons of stuff. i hoped it helped you. let me know how you like it.

I like that freezing the cookies idea but I have two questions, does the dough taste funny after it's been frozen for a few weeks? Also, does the dough after being frozen bake okay?

I usually start my baking the first Sat. and Sun. in December.

I make cheese biscuits. I also have a dough press that works. I purchasedit about 30 years ago with all the designs.

susan,
i never had a problem. i triple bag, seal all my doughs.keep away from strong smelling foods. i take them out of thr freeze, thaw/soften in fridge at least a day or 2...some doughs i use only need to be put in fridge. i also triple bags to prevent dough from picking up other food smells.the ones i use are fine, not sure if all will work. stiff doughs are fine.( gingerbread, choc. chip,butter cookies). i've done it for years... good luck, happy baking.

i also only bake one type of cookie a day.i guess i do not want smells to be on each other. that is just me.habit i guess.
