Sugar 'n Spice Nuts

2 cups sugar
1/2 cup water
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon (I use heaping 1/2 tsp)
2 1/2 cups pecan or walnuts or any favorite nut - or a mixture

Combine everything (except nuts) in large, heavy saucepan.  Cook over low to medium heat. Stir until sugar is dissolved then just watch for mixture to reach 236 degrees (soft ball stage).
Dump in the nuts and stir until creamy and sugary and very thick.
Pour onto waxed paper and use two forks to separate into clumps

I'm certain you will find these oh, so easy to make and absolutely delicious.  They make elegant gifts in a coffee cup, small box, anything.
I sprinkle a handful across a tray of cookies.

This sounds like a great recipe for the upcoming holidays.  I wrote it down and will be making this for sure very soon since the whole family loves any kind of nuts.   Thanks Nancy.

I can't wait to hear how they turn out for you all.  I like them SOOOOOOO much.
I have another "nutty" recipe that calls for orange peel -- it's a good one too.  A neighbor gave it to me 40 years
ago.  I loved it then but like the more recent one more.

SUGARED WALNUTS
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp grated orange peel
1/2 tsp cinnamon
6 Tbls milk
Boil to soft ball stage - add 1 tsp vanilla
Stir in walnuts. (exact amount??)
Cool on waxed paper.

My sister-in-law gave me this recipe years ago.. very tasty..

Beer Nuts

2 c. raw peanuts
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. beer

Mix all and boil til coated (approx. 15 min.) stirring occasionally.
Then spread onto greased cookie sheet and put in oven (350 degrees)
for about 15 min... break apart and cool.

Good for the football games..
