Sub for cranberries?

VVB has a great recipe for Chocolate Dipped Cranberry Cookies -- very beautiful cookies.
I want to replace the cranberries with something else.... something like the dried strawberries
I just bought.
I've used them many times in a sugar cookie recipe but I wonder if they will work in another recipe.

I would replace half with the strawberries you want to use and half with raisins. Just a guess but the dried cranberries and the raisins have a bit more sugar than the dried strawberries. The texture is also a bit different, the raisins or cranberries will be chewy, the dried strawberries may re-hydrate a bit but I doubt if the texture will be chewy. I think the dried strawberries are a bit crunchier than chewy, at least the ones I have had.
Let me know how the cookies turned out. I love "playing with my food" always looking for something new to do.

Just a guess but I think that may make them a bit on the soggy side. I would add them as is. They may soak some of the liquid from the recipe but shouldn't get soggy. I don't think they will be "crunchy" but probably wont have the chewy texture a raisin or craisin has.

I like to use golden raisins as well as dried cranberries. Also dried cherries are available.

I usually soak raisins before I use them. I think it makes them cook better.

How about using dried cherries. They could be used right out of the package. I use them instead of cranberries and also use cranberries instead of cherries.

Put some in a tossed salad (I would use Italian dressing)
Make some muffins with the cherries & maybe add some walnuts(freeze some of the muffins for later)
Make a chicken salad & add some cherries
Make a cranberry bread but sub the cherries for the cranberries
Make oatmeal cookies and use some cherries
Make cherry walnut candy bark for Easter
