My family used to have a "boiled" dinner every St. Patricks Day, but I was never fond of it, so we now have corned beef ( done in the oven) and cole slaw instead of boiled cabbage.  There is always enough left over for corned beef sandwiches, and even the cole slaw lasts.

We don't have a favorite food. I love corned beef but my husband does not.
My twin girls were born on the 15th so we celebrate that instead of the 17th.

Corned beef,potatoes,carrots,turnips and cabbage.I made pistashio cake for Valentine's day but I think I'm going to do reruns it's good and green!

A cookie? - surely you don't mean just one!

Do you ever make spritz cookies (cookie press)?  The dough can be colored and the shape can reflect the holiday.
They are my go-to cookies for any holiday.  Quick and super good too!
But I would not stop with a cookie (they are small after all)

Many years ago I owned a cookie press and I did not make one cookie I liked.  Frown   I think I want cookies that contain, nuts, chips, coconut, fruit, crushed candy, junk ---  I can't settle for a plain cookie - lol

Nancy, next time try making a shortbread cookie.  It is "plain" but the taste is heavenly.  The best ones are buttery and have a nice crumb to them.  I love them dipped in Ganache...oops you don't make ganache yet .  If you want nuts can be added as well as crystallized ginger.
I like Shortbread cookies better than "Spritz" cookies.

GRANA  here;
 we plan to have our  sameold sameold        meal  on March 17th:
 corned beef & cabbage [boiled dinner] w//potatoes,carrots & if on sale; purple topped turips no rutabagas, we just don't care for them.
Irish soda  bread if on sale or carrawy seed rye bread( for sandwiches, over the next few days
 hot ea/beer  &  green  shamrock sugar cookies from in store bakery

Oh Nikki -- I forgot  to tell you .... a couple of days ago I bought a chocolate graham cracker pie crust.   It sets quietly in my 'fridge .... it's expiration date is weeks and weeks away.  I have lots of time to build up nerve.  lol

I love short bread cookies,so buttery and not too sweet,pure heaven.Every once in a while I buy Walkers shortbread cookies from Scotland.They are a bit pricey $5 for six cookies.I really need to make my own but then I would surely eat most of them lol

I don't care for the St. Paddy's Day traditional menu, except for cabbage, and my husband doesn't really care what he has. So I'm making meatloaf. lol
