This fruitcake is cake with fruit in it not just a bunch of fruit squished togeather. That's why we like it. I usually make a syrup of sugar, water, corn starch and vanilla to poor over the individual slices.
1lb fruitcake mix
1 1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup golden raisins
2 1/4 cup flour
1 cup butter or shortening
1 1/2 c sugar
1/2 cup milk or Orange juice
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 package cherries or pineapple
Cream shortening and sugar, add unbeaten eggs slowly. Mixing well between each. Add fruit nuts and OJ or milk.
Sift dry ingredients together. Fold into liquid mixture. Mix completly.
Pour into greased floured bunt cake pan, Garnish with cherries or pineapple.
Bake at 275 degrees for 3 hours or until done.
